Procyon Training

We like Steph's positive behavioral approach. She has so much insight into the ways dogs brains work! Lyda, our young English setter mystery pooch, was a fostered to adopt from Greece with no household/suburban experience. A sweet, energetic but curiously submissive 2-year-old. We had two sessions with Steph, one private, and one joint with my daughter and her Bovier puppy. Our first lesson was teaching Lydia to allow people to leave the house without her escaping. The second was managing her playful enthusiasm with another dog. Both times Steph assessed the situation, gave us insight, and taught us new skills. Many behaviors are improving or resolved. I can now leave not only through the back door, but in and out the gate without interference. We are looking forward to our next lesson.

My mother’s dog, Millie, attended the three week boarding training program. The whole team was so very accommodating. Millie was an 11 month old Springer Spaniel Miniature Poodle Mix that was timid and undisciplined. They returned to me a much more confident dog that loved the interaction of commands. When around other dogs, Millie now enjoys running and playing with all sizes at all levels of play. Still two months later, she no longer chews on the furniture or other off limit items. Suddenly all of her toys are sufficiently engaging and she is passionate about her interaction with my mother. The bonus of six weeks of group classes afterwards was fantastic for me. Mother cannot get around easily, but I was able to pass on all the commands and tricks to her. We plan to continue using Procyon Training in the future for higher levels of training so that Millie can eventually be qualified as a service dog.
