We couldn’t be happier with the training that Dave did with our Stella. We adopted Stella from a shelter and while she is a good dog, she absolutely needed some obedience training. She was very reactive to other dogs and people. She was imposible to take on walks. During the consultation, he was thorough in explaining his program and philosophies. He was professional, confident and honest. We chose to do his board and train and it was the best decision ever! While we missed our girl, we had no doubt she was in great hands. Dave and his family treated Stella like their own. He is extremely trustworthy. Dave worked with Stella for 10 days and made so much progress! He provided us with updates via text and videos uploaded to Facebook. She now walks great on the leash, can better control her reactivity and most of all, she listens to commands and can be off-leash responsibly! Dave is everything his website says he is and more. I chose the 6 private training sessions that was recommended for both of my dogs. I needed help with getting my two dogs to walk nicely on a leash as well as dealing with dog/leash aggression while walking past other dogs. I also needed to learn how to get my dogs to respond to my recall commands since they both liked to ignore me. By the end of the training package, I can now take peaceful walks with my dogs with slack on their leashes! I never thought that would be possible. Their reactivity to other dogs while on a leash became much more manageable as well. I still have to consistently work on all of these things but the best part was that he trained me how to specifically work with them even when he isn’t around. My package came with two 30 foot leashes to aid in recall, and also two E-collars. The results would not have been possible without both of those items that Dave provided. He was also very knowledgeable about other products that I could use with my duo and where to buy them. I highly recommend Dave and the full spectrum of training capabilities that he can provide. Now that my top priorities for my dogs have been worked on, I plan on using him for additional training in the future.

“Thrilled” with ProActive Dog Training is an understatement. We came to this business because, despite our best efforts, our dog remained reactive to other dogs - not aggressive, but the barking and pulling and lunging was still very challenging. Dave came in for a consultation and talked at length with us, took some time to get a feel for our dog, and then emailed us a detailed training plan within 24 hours after meeting. We agreed to 6 trainings in total over 6 weeks. He’s extremely knowledgeable and had a clear “whole dog” approach – it wasn’t just focused on reactivity, but a bigger picture of recall, etc., and the trainings were tailored to OUR dog. The communication throughout was outstanding – he encouraged us to ask questions at any time throughout the week, and he was very responsive to my questions, concerns, and updates. By the end, we had SO much more than we asked for. We can now take him to a park and comfortably put him into a heel position, on or off-leash, and he ignores other dogs that we pass. It’s like a whole new awesome relationship with our dog. We couldn’t have picked a better leader/partner for our family than ProActive Dog Training. Thank you, Dave (and family)!

Working with Dave has been life changing. Prior to training with Dave, my anatolian shepherd mix had very bad recall and would not let me brush him for more than 3 minutes. We did several training plans with Dave, first working on basic obedience and second working on e collar training so we could do off leash hikes. My dog and I put a lot of work into our training every week, and it definitely paid off! Now with his training, we can hike off leash and he fell asleep while I was brushing out his undercoat last night. I am so grateful for Dave and his training. He listened to my goals and his training programs have exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

My wife and I highly recommend Dave Lock. He's not just a canine trainer, but a canine behaviorist as well. We have a ten week old Australian Labradoodle named Sophie . Dave started out with a consultation to find out what behaviors we wanted to achieve with our dog and then put together a plan to reach our goals. He then gave Sophie her first session. It was amazing! He had this ten week old puppy on the lead and she would heel and sit when he stopped. Not just once, but repeatedly. One issue we had was Sophie is she would go up stairs, but would not come back down. Before he left, Dave had her running up and down two flights of stairs like a pro! Clearly his many years of experience with the PA State Police canine unit makes him a clear choice above other canine trainers. We're looking forward to our next session...especially Sophie!
