Practical Obedience LLC - Custom Dog Training

Our longtime vet recommended Maggie and Practical Obedience to us several months ago. We added a wooly Siberian husky to our family, and he came to us with aggression, body handling issues and extreme resource guarding. 2 trainers told us our puppy was too severe a case, and would end up being put down because he was too dangerous. One of those “trainers” spent 20 minutes with us, and inflicted abuse and pain and injury. Our Mieko now has PTSD and equipment anxiety. I asked Maggie for an emergency Zoom consult. I was immediately comfortable, even through a screen to screen conversation. She was the first person we turned to who left a feeling any hope or faith in Mieko’s future with us. I even knew, without reservation, I could trust her alone with our puppy during day training sessions. Fast forward several weeks and sessions, and Mieko has made such huge changes, our vet called them “profound.” She has helped ease our fur baby, she has been SO patient with me, she has given us the tools and confidence to help Mieko be the best boy he can be. (And she does so with love, treats and toys.) We have a long road ahead of us. Maggie refers to that as “many fires to put out.” But, we are forever grateful for her professionalism, her dedication, her punishment free tactics and her gentle nature with Mieko. I recommend her to anyone in need of intensive training or just a fine tune. Our family is proud to have her by our side as our sweet, crazy, beautiful husky baby continues to thrive. From the detailed notes following our sessions, to the elaborate in-person explanation of what we were working on (&& why), to how polite she was to my puppy and I. They all did such a wonderful job through our first handful of sessions, that I decided to sign my puppy up for another set! I could not be happier with the experience I had at Practical Obedience. I would go back to/recommend family and friends to her (and Practical Obedience) in a heartbeat (and already have).

I’ve recently enrolled my Shiba Inu puppy, Phoebe, in Practical Dog Obedience’s Puppy Dayschool program. I am endlessly grateful for the lessons Phoebe and I were taught, and I will have these lessons with me for the rest of my life! I truly believe this establishment is the best choice for anyone looking for assistance in understanding and working with their dog! I was initially very concerned about my dogs breed, and how they have a tendency to be very independent and aloof. I think the Puppy Dayschool program was the best fit for her because there were so many opportunities for Phoebe to be handled and experience new things alongside professional, loving people. While this is a program with a few other puppies and trainers, the training was so custom and personalized to my specific concerns! It feels like a family, very safe and not like I was giving my dog away to different person and a scary experience each time. It was a big investment for me personally but I don’t regret it one bit. It’s so valuable and a well worth it exchange to have a puppy set up for success. Each day of the program that was x2 a week for x6 weeks, I would go home with a more comfortable puppy and a descriptive follow up email that most of the time included a real life video of what they did and how it looks. Not only was this an adorable thing to watch but very educating. Practical Dog Obedience does not fail to ensure you have the tools for any process you and your fur friend are working on.
