Piper's Place

We could not be more thrilled with our experience with Helen at Piper’s Place! Our 8-month old labradoodle puppy, Griffey, really struggled with over- excitability, impulse control, and he just couldn’t chill. At 60lbs, he was uncontrollable in public, which was really frustrating and embarrassing for us. He pulled like crazy on walks, and we had to micromanage him in the house or he would steal things, countersurf, and generally just wander around looking for something to get into. He also just started blowing us off when we tried to recall him or ask for obedience. During his 4-week off leash board and train, Helen was able to teach him how to relax, stay, walk in heel, recall, and just have better overall manners. She also taught him how to regulate his emotions so he doesn’t go so crazy at the sight of another human or animal. The thought of being able to enjoy our pup off leash was not even an option before this program. If you are questioning whether the investment in one of Helen’s training programs is worth it, we can tell you it is worth every. single. penny. We are now able to enjoy our pup in ways we never would have been able to before. Helen absolutely set our family up for success with all of the skills she taught Griffey (and us), and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Our dog Daisy spent a month training on and off leash at Piper’s Place and boy what a difference!! Daisy is a one year old Border Collie with a TON of energy! Before training with Helen, she would dart out the door, or through the gate, and straight into the street to chase any car that passed by. She chewed up anything and everything that was near by, including her bed. She never stayed in place unless she was in her kennel and she pulled like a sled dog on her walks. That being said, Helen worked wonders with her! She no longer has any of those behaviors and heels right by our side on walks. We are able to enjoy her in ways we couldn’t before she went to training. If you are debating whether or not to send your dog to train at Piper’s Place, do it, you won’t regret it. It is worth every penny and Helen is wonderful with dogs. Daisy loves her and gives her two paws up as well.

Where to even start with Helen and Piper's Place! We have a 5 year old lab who was so anxious and didn't know how to control it! She would freak out and pace around like something was wrong all the time. She was impossible to walk because of her pulling and whining every time she got on a leash! The breaking point was when she got out the front door and ran around the neighborhood and she wouldn't come back! The next week we started looking up trainers because we had enough. We found Pipers Place online and did a lot of research not just on her but other places as well. What is great is Helen will do a consultation over the computer to figure out what it is you want from your dog. Very professional and listens to you. She isn't going to just train your dog to be like a police K-9, she wants you to be able to enjoy your dog and love it as well, which is what we really loved about it! She kept telling us that after her 4-week training program our dog would be able to walk off leash at your side, stay on a place mat until you tell her to get off, not sprint out of doors, etc. (I thought there was no way this lady can do all this in 4 weeks) I was WRONG! It's like a brand new dog honestly, she listens and we are able to enjoy taking her on walks in public and just the freedom our dog has off leash makes her happy too! It really is a difference maker if she can do this with a 5 year old field lab she can do anything! She doesn't just train the dog either she trains you which I feel like is most difficult part of the process. You go home feeling confident in continuing to work with your dog and build that relationship. I already told Helen that when we get another dog, we are sending them to her once they are old enough! Would recommend to anyone looking for an amazing dog trainer! Stop wondering about it seriously... call and make an appointment and see for yourselves you will not be disappointed!

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Helen and Piper’s Place Dog Training. She was phenomenal to work with. I was that person who asked a million questions about the program before working with her and she was patient and thorough with every answer and made sure I was comfortable with the program before beginning. The first thing she did was evaluate the dogs…and me…turns out I needed more training than the dogs. Helen was quick to see that and met us where we were. She tailored her training to meet the needs to my lifestyle and the dogs older age. Even after the training concluded she has been a great resource. Whenever I have a question about my dogs behavior she responds quickly and remembers the quirks my dogs have so she can tailor her advice. Plus she has years of experience in the animal field. Her knowledge and approachability made her one of the first people I called when my dog had a medical event so she could help me understand what it meant for his new normal, and how to adapt the training program to fit him and his sister. Before Helen, the idea of a “stranger” being so involved in my dogs life and potentially keeping them overnight was a hard no. But after meeting Helen and realizing that she loves my dogs as much as I do, I will never hesitate to recommend her to someone who needs a great trainer.
