My name is Tobin & I'm a very adorable 16 month old female American Bully (XL). My “pet parents” first took me to Pet-U-Cation back in November, and I honestly wasn’t really sure why we needed to go, after all, I love all dogs, kids, and people of any kind. Training wasn’t something I really thought I needed. I had so many friends at my old daycare, but sometimes the older dogs didn’t really understand that I look intimidating and mature, but I’m really just a puppy who sometimes doesn’t understand when someone doesn’t want to be my friend. Anyways, I met Savannah, and she said I could come to day training and if I listened and understood the rules and boundaries, I could come to daycare. I’ve been going at least two times a week since February and I just love my days there! Susan helped me learn confidence with the flirt pole and how to consistently heel and come when called and now that I am a better listener I get to play with so many dog friends! The structure and consistency I get there has made it so I don’t get in any trouble at home anymore. I’m halfway through my Canine Good Citizen course and am walking so nicely on a leash and looking forward to passing my test. I’ve even gotten to spend a few nights at my “trainers” house and she makes me work hard and reinforces my learning, but also is a big softie. I wish I came here back when I was rescued from BARCs, but I plan on doing daycare FOREVER and anytime my people are out of town I’m definitely staying with Savannah!

After adopting a 1.5 yr old dog that did not start off in life with the best of a balanced life, I found Pet-U-Cation several years ago to take Theo and Cricket to. We have gone through day training, Sunday Wellness, Daycare, group lessons and board /train. Theo is a fearful dog with leash reactions. Cricket is just a scaredy cat. While the dogs may have these traits, with the training classes, I have learned better on how to handle the reactions. Pet-U-Cation has a dedicated staff that understands the social cues of the dogs and works with them to be their best. There are various levels of training, each class I took increase our knowledge and helped me understand my dogs better. There is a mutual level of care, support and dedication that the trainers have shown the pets and owners.

If you’re looking for a more supervised daycare environment, structured play, hands-on one-on-one, or group training, I would highly recommend them. It’s very clear how much the staff knows, and how deeply they care about every single dog that walks through their doors. Over the past few months, this is the fourth daycare we’ve tried for our dog. The first one we chose to leave. The next two either wouldn’t accept her or ultimately asked her not to return. Our dog is an over 80-lb American Bully, and she truly doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body. We started daycare and boarding when she was about 8 months old. At nearly 50 lbs already, she was placed with the large dogs. In this large group play, the challenge wasn’t aggression; it was that she was young, playful, and didn’t always understand when another dog didn’t want to engage. Two facilities told us they couldn’t keep her in group play because other dogs would become reactive when she missed social cues and it wasn't safe for them or the dogs. After the second rejection, we reached out to friends and were highly encouraged to try Pet-U-Cation. We were told upfront that the training and care are exceptional, but as a small business with limited overhead and office staff, communication can sometimes require patience (which has also been our experience). Her evaluation went great. After two day-training sessions, she became a regular at daycare, and she absolutely loves it! The growth we’ve seen in her socialization and ability to read other dogs has been incredible. It’s also reinforced the training we’re doing at home and helping her overall learning and development (consistency really is key). We love that there is no more coming home from daycare with newly acquired bad habits.

I had tried a handful of dog trainers in nearby counties with limited success, but fortunately I stumbled upon the best trainer conveniently located near our home in Catonsville. Savannah Huff has worked wonders at Pet-u-Cation with our German shepherd, focusing the dog’s confidence, obedience and socialization around other canines. She treats each pet like her own and fosters an incredibly loyal clientele. We are extremely grateful for her expertise.
