We rescued our pitbull named Muprhy in May 2020. He was our first pitbull but not our first rescue. It was almost as if Muprhy had no clue how to be a dog, poor guy was only a year old when we adopted him. We could not get him to go in the kennel, he would not walk nice on a leash and had a tendency to throw temper tantrums. After stressing and struggling for a few months, we decided it was time to ask for help. We found Personal Family Dog Trainer and Kara was a true blessing. We initially signed up for a 6 week dog companion training course. Kara took it to the basics and showed us what we were doing wrong and how we could improve. She explained what we were doing step by step. We went into the training thinking these are the issues, lets just focus on those but that is not how it works. You have to start at square one and build from there. Essentially, Kara was training the dog, my wife and I. Murphy did fairly well and when we finished that course of training, we thought we were home free. It was only a short few months later and we ended up going back for a second round of training as Murphy developed a new behavior we were not excited about like suffering from stranger danger and being fearful of kids. Kara helped us work through those issues as well. Training once a week with Kara will not be enough. You really owe it to your dog to put the time and effort into it. Kara has extreme patience and has a calm presence about her. She is always available to help via phone, Zoom or in person. She is a really good dog trainer. We cannot thank her enough for all she has done to help our little family. We highly recommend her.
