Pawsitive Paul's Dog Training

I adopted an adult dog recently who had no obedience training and had begun to exhibit some human aggression toward guests in my home. In one session in my home Paul was able to give me the information and techniques required to move forward with confidence in attempting to train and desensitize my new friend. Paul made me and the dog feel at ease right away, and was able to give a really honest and comprehensive assessment of my situation very quickly. He was also realistic and didn't promise a magical transformation overnight, and anyone who does is probably lying. All of this is a long process and consistently applying what Paul knows and shares is having a positive impact for us. I can even follow up with him with progress (both good news and of course the occasional setback) and he continues to advise me today in creating a good environment for my pup (and myself and guests).

Based on the reviews, we were excited to have a private session with Paul. We were very upfront with him about our rescue dog who was scared and barked at everything—especially other dogs. He came to our home straight from a class, meaning he smelled like 30+ other dogs. Because we’ve had dogs before, we had already worked on some basic commands. Paul didn’t teach us anything new. He clearly didn’t know how to read our dog’s body language and our dog bit him as a result. He then pushed us to continue to work with him even though our dog was clearly to amped to be training at that time. It was super stressful and we were all relieved when he left. Paul is very busy, so the communication was poor in setting the appointment. He gave us a small discount for the session, I think he also knew we definitely didn’t get what was promised. Our rescue organization said they don’t recommend him and we’ve been so much happier with their recommendation. Paul is probably fine if you bought your first puppy and need to learn sit/stay, but he’s definitely not the guy for more advanced or complicated situations. He’s a nice enough person, but definitely wasn’t worth our time and money as a dog trainer.

Paul came over our house for a private training session and was able to teach my 2 month old German Shepherd all the basic commands in just one session. He is extremely professional, polite and experienced. Paul observes the environment, the puppy and right away, he was able to offer great advice with things like potty training and scheduling. He then moved onto teaching commands and I simply could not believe my eyes to see how capable, obedient and fully trainable my puppy could be with Paul’s advice. He taught me the proper hand gestures, tone of voice and best way for the puppy to understand and I’m extremely happy with the results. Now my puppy comes and stays on command right after just this one lesson. It was an unbelievable experience and Paul really does this out of passion and love for dogs which really resonates from his personality. He even offered to send notes for topics that he went over during the session and let us know that we could email him if we had any further questions. I genuinely recommend this for anyone that has a young puppy that you would like to behave in a way that works based off of positive reinforcement.

Boy was I unprepared for the demands of a new puppy. Now approaching four years old, she and I seem to relate so effortlessly to one another that it’s *almost* hard to believe life together wasn’t always so smooth. For that we have Pawsitive Paul to thank. He taught us how to get along through attention to body language, tone, and minor gestures I didn’t even realize were in play. He also helped me to understand the importance of routine, play, and exercise in a way that all the books I had read had not. When I think about the joy this sweet dog gives to my life each day it’s hard to overstate the gratitude to Paul for getting us through a rough patch early on. If you are struggling, he can help!
