Threes a charm! Mike Gibbs is the 3rd trainer I have hired for my large German Shepherd, Goliath. The other 2 trainers just did not connect and were unable to help us make lasting changes. Mike has been training both Goliath and me for about 2 months and the results are amazing. Goliath has gone from the headstrong dog who was pulling on the leash and reactive toward all dogs to a calmer dogs that walks next to me, sits when I pause, obeys commands and he is getting much better on his reactivity when on a leash. For the first time he has been able to go to a dog park and has even made some friends there. Goliath is almost 6, so yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks (with a good trainer.) He is much better at obedience now and my family no longer has doubts that he is too much to handle. Mike was very accommodating with my schedule and Goliath gets excited when he is going to the training sessions. We are continuing our workouts and look forward to more socialization and the rattlesnake avoidance training too. Hiring Mike and Pawsitive K9 University definitely was the right decision for us!

Long review ahead… We’ve wasted a lot of money in the past for “training” so I was extremely hesitant when I started looking for a dog trainer. After multiple unreturned voicemails and speaking to several businesses, Mike was a breath of fresh air. I didn’t feel like he was using a script on me to “get my money”, but that he honestly cared about my dog as well as helping me. Apollo is a 3 year old, 85lb dog, that would jump on or slam into people when he’s excited. He would also exhaust me on walks with his pulling, jumping, etc. We stopped hosting as many gatherings because he was too much to handle, I couldn’t take him on walks, and a dog sitter was out of the question. We felt stuck. Today started week 4 of training. Mike’s first session focused on confidence training, and I immediately started to notice a difference. Apollo wasn’t as reactive with people/things around him. Over the past few weeks, I’ve started bringing him to the dog park and he doesn’t jump on people and runs around with a huge smile on his face! He’s made great progress with recall and heel. This past weekend we had over 20 people at our home for a party. Apollo didn’t jump or slam into anyone! Our friends and family were amazed. He’s been around growling/barking dogs and has ignored them. These are only a couple of our large accomplishments. Words can’t express how thankful I am for Mike’s dog training and guidance. We’re only halfway through and Apollo is a completely different dog. We look forward to being able to now include him on camping trips, beach trips, and so much more ❤️
