Pawsitive Canine Care & Training LLC

We have been bringing our golden retriever, Forest, here since he was a puppy for both group classes and day training. The staff is very knowledgeable and has been helpful in training our fur baby as well as giving us things to work on in our own time. The group classes are great for developing life skills with the dog as well as growing your bond with your pup. Forest loves the training staff and gets very excited every time we drive into the parking lot. Would recommend to anyone who wants to invest in their dog's training and behavior.

Can't recommend this place enough; I was surprised to realize I hadn't already written a review. Highlights: awesome group and private classes, day training (*not* daycare!), and boarding. Trustworthy trainers with extensive experience who know what they're talking about and care deeply about the dogs. Our pup, Cass, is A Lot. She's awesome! But we got more than we expected with her intensity/enthusiasm. (We later discovered that she had been sick when we adopted her, so her energy levels were not obvious.) Zero regrets, but definitely needed pros to help us figure out how best to help her exist safely in a world with rules, cars, etc. We tried two other training options and didn't love them. A friend recommended Pawsitive and it was immediately clear that they'd be a good fit. Positive reinforcement was a requirement for us: no shock/e-collars, no "corrections" etc. The first Pawsitive trainer we interacted with made it clear that they're not telling you what you can/can't do at home (and I do know a few pups that need an e-collar for safety reasons, eg having been adopted at an older age and already having those habits), but that those tools will never be part of the programming here. Since starting in early 2024, we've done group classes, private sessions, day training, and long weekend boarding. All have been worth every penny. There are options for the basics (puppy, adolescent) plus specific concerns (aggressive, nervous/shy) or skills (scent work, agility training, etc). Cass is always super excited to "get ready for school" and just as happy at the end of the day. The report cards are great, both for letting you know what to work on at home and for the cute pics. Day training is not day care. It's school with learning/practice, every time. You have homework! Do the homework! We really needed this. Cass may be A Lot, but now she's a manageable kind of A Lot, able to coexist with our cats and (usually) the neighborhood squirrels, and getting better every day with tricky behaviors. We were pretty delinquent with homework for a bit because of Life Stuff, and this became clear to the trainers. We eventually got a message about it - not rude or mad! Just open/direct and wanting to make sure we were doing what's best for our pup. This is what you want in training. Someone to politely call you out when you're not doing your part, and then actively help you find ways to do better. We're back on track now, and I'm super grateful that they're willing to make it clear when changes are needed to make the program work. This sort of training obviously takes an investment of time/effort, but life gets so much easier and more fun when your chaos-pup has more impulse control! The only real negative is the parking lot/entrance that sneaks up fast on a busy road (not their fault!). Slow down before you think you need to (especially if it's icy) so whoever is tailgating you at 50mph has a chance to back off.

This place is amazing. I have NEVER worried about our dog here. They are amazing with her, she pulls our arm off when we arrive in the parking lot for her weekly trainings. Even with her separation anxiety I have never worried about boarding her cause we can't even say the word daycare in our house or she runs to the door. Every single trainer is amazing and I appreciate the report cards and all the fun stuff they do. If you can get in you will not regret it.
