Paws to Train

Gwen Weisgarber is a very talented teacher and trainer. Her many years of experience, combined with her patient approach, enable her to assist with dogs of widely differing temperaments and owners/handlers with a broad spectrum of experience – from beginners to advanced. Paws to Train has played the pivotal role in teaching me the skills I needed to bring about an exceptionally positive outcome for my rescued and irrationally exuberant, high drive Australian Shepherd. We learned basic and advanced skills of good behavior and impulse control through canine good citizen and reactive dog classes , all while having a great time. And, while my dog and I were completely new to agility, with Gwen’s encouragement and training, we earned our Novice titles in short order. Thanks to Gwen, both my dog and I not only love agility, but we can be out in public in an enjoyable and well-behaved manner.

I have been doing agility at paws to train with my standard poodle for many years. I have learned so much from Gwen, not just agility, but basic training as well. Cabo (My standard) has always been very reactive around other dogs. He has come so far since working with Gwen. We can now sit in a room full of other dogs and I can actually relax! I highly recommend Paws to train for training and agility.

It's great to have such a knowledgeable, positive, trainer in Rochester. I am currently starting my third dog with Gwen. She has help us (me and my dogs) train in:puppy basics, rally, Canine Good Citizen test prep, trick titling and agility. She sees such subtle behaviors in my dogs that I just am not able to catch, especially in my first dog, who was rather fearful. The facility has AC for the hot summer months, and beautiful (new) matting. Oh, there's always chocolate!!

Paws to Train is for every level of dog handler and lover wether you are looking for basic puppy obedience to high level competition! I thought I was already knowledgeable about dog training but signed up for a puppy class to socialize my new puppy and to perhaps learn a little something. I soon realized how much has changed and evolved in dog training and have benefited greatly from a really wonderful trainer! These classes offered are so much fun as well! With additional exposure to all sorts of dog sports I now have the best trained dog I have ever had and am loving every minute of it! Do yourself and your dog a favor and try some classes...you will love it!
