Paws On The Ground Dog Training

I trusted POTG (new port richey ) to train my dog , as she isn’t always good with other dogs. I was told 4-5 weeks wil be enough time for this training. I won’t get into the promises that I was told that were completely untrue, but I will say this….i repeated myself a minimum of 5 times at how worried I was about the heat and her overheating (she’s a big girl)…I repeated a minimum of 5 times that I needed to see the facility of where she would be staying and training, as I was told her training would be mostly indoor due to it being August in Florida and she overheats…. Long story short, I was told that everything would be just fine…just pay and go and trust us. Well, I don’t trust them and I will never again go to a dog train/board unless there are cameras and I suggest nobody else does either. I can only thank God that something kept telling me to go get my dog. I ignored the nagging voice for 1 week and then it was too much to think about. I sent my brother and sister (unannounced) to get my girl. They were right near the new port richey facility. I truly believe , had I not finally listen to my instinct, my dog wouldn’t be here today. My dog (after 1 week) had lost at least 5 pounds….her breathing when she got into the car was terrifying. My sister took video once she got home to give water (too long to upload) She was bleeding from a big sore on her leg and it was infected …she was so thirsty she couldn’t stop drinking water. It was dangerous how dehydrated she was. To top it off, she had a horrible urinary tract infection (probably from not having water) . Lastly, for at least a week after I got her, she wouldn’t stop chasing her tail. Makes me wonder if she was ever out of her “cage”. I don’t know if I can forgive myself for only going by “reviews”. They have good reviews, but they’re shared with all the other locations , so I don’t think it’s a fair assessment. I plead with Paws On The Ground , change your practices! I was told after the fact, that water is kept from the dogs as a training tactic!!!! You cannot do this . Especially in Florida! Anyone considering training anywhere, unless they have cameras full time, don’t send your precious animals to them. Transparency is sooo mandatory.

I had my AI run a strict protocol search to look for the best Dog Trainers in the greater Tampa Bay area. I was lead to P.O.T.G.. Professional is an understatement! We were treated as family and the training was world class. There understanding of canine psychology is clearly evident and there training speaks for itself. I picked my boy up today from there boot camp a changed dog. Proud & confident. They also spent three hours working with my wife and I and our 4 1/2 yr old son before we left. Not just sit, stay but explaining the psychology along the way while we trained with our dog after he went through there boot camp. The psychological understanding combined with their total commitment to canines as well as the owners training is a standard that will not be surpassed anytime soon. Highly highly recommended!

This was by far the best decision we’ve made. I’m so thankful that we found these guys. They are top notch professionals and just genuinely great caring people. We now know how to better communicate with Wheeler making everyone much more happy. Thank you both so much McKenzie and Kellen!!!!! Our new extended Family!! Update: We went to go see my Granddaughter this weekend and brought Wheeler back for boarding. I absolutely love these people. We know Wheeler is well cared for and “loved”. The best part! Wheeler has learned so much he got to be a “Demo Dog” to showcase for new clients. Stop considering where to bring your dog for training. The absolute best you can get is at P.O.T.G. Training. I have trained a German Shepherd and a Puggle in the past and decided 6 months before having my first daughter was enough to train my German Shepherd puppy Cerberus. That was a big miscalculation and I experienced stubbornness and also experienced excited/submissive peeing for the first time which over the next couple of years would get better and then get worse again. We sent him to another trainer and unfortunately our experience was not good and got to the point we were looking at options that I never thought I would ever do by turning him over to a rescue. During that Process I was referred to Kenzie and Kellen to evaluate him based on them being trusted by the rescue. I was skeptical in spending more for training as I had already spent thousands for training and things to try and solve the issues. Within the first 30 minutes of the evaluation I already knew I wanted to give it a shot and both Kenzie and Kellen spent a couple hours with me to explain a lot and answering a lot of my questions. We did a 14 day refresher board and train and at the end they spent a lot of time training me on how to work with Cerberus to overcome his issues. He has been home for a few months now and although the pees are not perfect they have continued to work with me to keep making progress and as far as training he is excelling! A huge part of this success has been them working with me on adjusting my interactions with him and guiding me to what he needs. It is ongoing, but I can’t state it enough that I wish I had used them first and will definitely work with the in the future and am also using them to board him as well knowing that he will be in good hands and continued reinforcement of his training. he will get to enjoy some time with them this month while we take a family vacation we can’t take him on! I would highly recommend Kenzie and Kellen for all of your training needs as they focus on tailoring and working with you and not on being a training factory line!

I can’t say enough good things about this dog training place! I brought in my Frenchie and Pocket Bully. Two very stubborn but sweet dogs and the transformation has been amazing. The trainers are super knowledgeable, patient, and truly understand how to work with different breeds and personalities.Both of my dogs now walk on leash without pulling, listen to commands, and have way better manners around other dogs and people. Definitely recommend!!!!
