Paws Down Pets Dog Training

February 1 2024 we adopted Nyxie from the humane society in Longview. She was about 1 year old at the time, a neglected and unsocialized border collie. We weren’t prepared for the level of reactivity she was suffering from. Other than a few people, anything else would set her off, totally out of control. The shelter manager offered support and suggestions but in person training and evaluation was going to be the only way to get heading down the right path. Nyxie is a sensitive dog that wants to please. So harsh training methods would not be a good option for getting her to be, a confident “normal” dog we could take hiking and have around people. After looking at several options we gave Julie a call. We had to setup private lessons as being around other dogs was just not an option. After evaluating Nyxie she gave us an honest assessment. She was able to get us headed the right direction. Now almost 2 years later Nyxie can enter stores, walk through a dog park and has successfully completed in the chaotic environment of an agility trial. Thank you Julie.

Julie is an amazing trainer! Especially for me! I rescued Banjo Monster (middle name) from the Humane Society. She was a very high energy Australian shepherd mix. After 3 months of attempting to train her myself, I signed up for Dog classes with Julie that consisted of Banjo and 2 other dogs. At our first class Banjo was so out of control, barking, squirming, wriggling and well...a total mess! She was so disruptive that we had to leave the class. We ended up hiring Julie for private lessons in our home. After 5 lessons, Banjo is a different dog! She is well behaved and manageable most the time (Work in Progress). Julie really understood how Banjo's mind thinks! A true "Dog Whisperer". She saved both Banjo and myself! Thank you so much Julie!
