Pawmos Dog Training

So glad we reached out to Gabriel! Our dog, Miso, was struggling with leash reactivity and nervousness around strangers, a combination that was sometimes stressful in a place like NY. Gabriel was able to analyze and provide simple, intuitive methods for us to help Miso learn to stay calm and rebuild her confidence. We had two sessions and Gabriel was so great at really listening to our experiences, providing achievable strategies, and then walking us through these in situ, whether it was on the street or at a dog run, so we could practice it with him. If you need help with your pup, look no further - Gabriel is truly something special. Our puppy Remi had real issues walking on a leash when other dogs are present due to his extreme excitement - something truly difficult to control in NYC, where there are dogs walking outside pretty much at all times! When Remi would see a dog, he would either pull hard towards the dog or simply plant his feet and fixate. This made walking outside extremely difficult, and we worried that over time this behavior could lead to aggression. We didn’t think we would see a result after one session but Gabriel had Remi walking by other dogs with no tension on the leash within minutes of stepping outside! Gabriel did a wonderful job explaining the difference between training and behavior, teaching us how to communicate non-verbally through leash pressure, and showing us how to properly de-escalate Remi’s excitement around other dogs to produce a long-lasting change in his behavior. From that one session, he gave us concrete strategies to implement when approaching a dog on the street, and showed us how to break Remi’s fixation, which immediately helped in resolving our walking issue. It has been about a month since our session with Gabriel and Remi is doing SO much better! By consistently applying Gabriel’s advice, we have seen a gradual but definite change in Remi’s behavior around dogs. He is able to be calm around other dogs. We are correcting him far less overall, and he is able to walk by other dogs with a lot of ease! Not perfect, but a true change in behavior takes time, and we are a lot more confident now thanks to Gabriel’s guidance. Book your session!!

This was the first time we had rescued a pup, and we wanted to learn to communicate well with him and understand his behaviors while learning how to train him. Gabriel framed parameters for us to understand what we were experiencing with Mr. Spock. He gave us practical information that helped us perceive Spock's fears and giving us ways of responding to his behaviors. We had also tried behavior modification techniques with another trainer. Gabriel's methods and explanations worked well for our dog and we are very appreciative for his information and help. When Spock arrived, he was unable to walk urban blocks. Whoever said "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" clearly has never met Gabriel! WOW. I can’t recommend Gabriel from Pawmos enough! We have two Shelties, Rocky (9 years old) and Rosko (10 years old) who were extremely reactive and barked at everything (hair dryer, hair SPRAY!!, the blender, the vacuum, people knocking on the doors, AIRPANES!). Gabriel not only taught us how to prevent these behaviors but also showed us how to manage them effectively in different situations. He truly understands dogs and how they think about things. He’s basically the dog whisperer—his knowledge about dogs is unmatched. He equipped us with the tools and techniques we needed to prevent unwanted unwanted barking, as well as how to manage it once it begins. We saw a huge improvement even after the first day.
