Patriot K9 Training & Services

Patriot K9 is the A Team: the equivalent of surgeons for canine behavior. We’ve used their services for 3 different behavior cases from severe abuse & neglect situations. Their trainers designed customized board-&-train programs, targeting challenging psychological & behavioral patterns. We received video updates, training tutorials as well as advanced handling sessions along the way. The outcomes speak for themselves: bite & redirection risks virtually gone, advanced obedience which has sustained nearly a year later, more attentive & engaged dogs who want human communication & connection, as well as a ton of techniques for handling a variety of challenges. Their trainers shy away from nothing & gave us very hands-on training to address even the most dangerous of situations. We’ve passed these lessons on to the rescue community we are part of -- one of whom informed us the other day that one of these techniques *saved her dog’s life*. This kind of story is par for the course when it comes to Patriot K9's teachings. We’ve had direct & wonderful experiences with several of their trainers (see below). Every person we've encountered at their site seems wildly talented & dedicated to the cause of advancing the relationship between dogs & humans. On our many visits, we find they are buzzing with a wide network of dog enthusiasts -- to share best practices, demonstrate new techniques, & simply enjoy these amazing creatures. *Amanda* is a force to be reckoned with -- her knowledge is endless, & her ability to identify behavioral causes & effective interventions is rooted in something deep & formidable. She greatly helped our Mal X (former county cruelty case, used in organized violence) unwind from his trauma while giving him the first human in his life he could take direction from with confidence. The dog we dropped off could not do much of life without reactivity (walking, play, verbal direction, new people). Over a year later, he still follows the directions she taught him, plays with our smaller female with success, walks by cars without a peep (they used to terrify him), & enjoys learning new ways to earn peanut butter. *Mariah* is that ideal mix of assertive & playful, making every dog both love her & want to follow her directives. She trained two very different & difficult behavior cases: our Dutch Shepherd & Pyrenees mix. And, both transformed in her care. Our Dutchie, as we now say, “handles like a sports car.” He came to her impulsive, reactive, & feeling challenged by certain commands. He now follows the commands she taught him with perfect execution -- & if he sees her, now many months later, he about melts! Our Pyrenees mix, whose behavior involved high bite & redirection risk, equally adores her. Through patience & unflinching dedication, she earned his respect & attention while greatly expanding his world. Before her, he was regularly reacting, redirecting, & challenging us. As I write this, he is calmly lying in a sunspot in the backyard, not making a peep as the neighborhood noises come & go (a major change). Later, we will take him on a long walk where he will wag his tail at passers-by, explore new things with a passive curiosity, & follow my directions to ‘wait’ & ‘leave it’. These walks are among our favorite times with him, & they are only possible because of Mariah's gift of giving dogs the good life. *Laci* is full of the warmth & steadfast qualities dogs require to encounter new & scary situations. She is a careful observer, a quick learner, & meets your dog where they are. She provided extended board-&-training to our reactive Mal X, who quickly fell in love with her. She loves a challenge and her talents are well-suited to the touch cases! *Leo* is among the coolest-headed, quick-maneuvering, & confident trainers you will encounter. He has assisted with all our dogs in some fashion & is impressively adaptable. Any dog would be lucky to land to him as a trainer. We continue to use Patriot K9. If what's ahead is anything like what has come before, we are in the best of hands

We reached out to Amanda inquiring about a protection dog /working dog and also shared that our little ones were a little scared of dogs. She was patient with us and our littles and helped us find a perfect dog for us and our family! Fast forward 30 days later and our youngest first thing she does when she wakes up is she asks to play with the dog! We are so glad to have found amanda and Jesse and cannot thank them enough for all the work they have done and continue to do for us and our dog. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend!

Patriot K9 was wonderful in training our puppy! Her trainer, Laci, and the rest of the staff we encountered were very knowledgeable, kind, kept us updated with pictures and videos, and most importantly, loving to our baby like she was their own! She has done great in her training and they do a great job keeping the dogs busy and happy, as well as giving them plenty of "real world" training sessions out and about. She first went to learn some basic obedience and leash manners and most recently went back to work on some confidence struggles she was having. We would highly recommend Patriot K9 to anyone looking for training of any type.
