Partners Snake Avoidance has successfully trained over 16,000 dogs to avoid the SCENT and SOUND of a Rattlesnake for the past 16 years. It works in 3 parts.
1. We put our own equipment on your pup and use our own experienced handlers to make sure they association is objective as possible. Just between the dog and the snake.
2. We then take your dog to around to several double mesh wire cages in a desert environment, and once they recognize the scent or sound of the rattlesnake we give a very minimal "nick" on an e-collar to train a negative association.
3. At the end, we will give you a recap of what we thought of the session and will recommend a time to come back for your pup's refresher.
Do you use defanged, box, or cage training? I'm getting a 6 month old heeler who will be my hiking buddy.
They use a double mesh wire cage so there is no chance the snake can get to your dog. Though, it still lets the sound and scent through! I would never go to a trainer that defangs the snakes as it can be very painful for the snake, and still potentially harm the dog. The fangs grow back:/

Very professional trainers, received a detailed report afterward. And I believe it worked. About a month later our dog took a sniff of a bush and jumped and ran just like she did during training.
They could give you just a bit more information prior to visit - for example - they do not want dogs interacting with each other while waiting, but they didn't tell us that. So our friendly dog was greeting another friendly dog and one of the trainers rather tersely said 'stop that we don't want dogs interacting with other dogs'. I understand now that is because they do not know if dogs are social and do not want that liability - but it would be good to know before you got there (as you just kind of stand in the parking lot).

Great job. They are professionals and know their business. Very reasonable rates. They emailed a follow up report for each dog on how they performed.

I think they're doing their best with the demand for their services, but it was very rushed. Felt like they just processed us like cattle. It was in an indoor setting which I also question. Definitely not a realistic environment that your dog will encounter a snake. All in all he definitely showed an aversion to the scent, and sound. Time will tell if it works in a real world environment

We just had snake avoidance training at the Cave Creek location. As usual we are very satisfied with the experience. Our year old puppy responded immediately after her first introduction to the snake. The handlers were professional, considerate, and caring. They took time to answer my questions and were very careful with our little pup. They apologized for a slight delay, but the wait wasn't bad at all.
Of course, it remains to be seen how she will respond if she encounters a snake. We have every reason to believe that she will aggressively avoid it !
