Partners Dog Training, Daycare and Resort

This is a warning for anyone who loves their dog like they’re family. When we were looking for a training facility for our sweet Labrador, to gain more confidence and socialization opportunities with other dogs, we did our homework. Partners’ sales team did a great job convincing me they were there to help. Partners seemed reputable until something went very wrong. Our dog was in the boarding and training program at Partners Scottsdale location for 3 weeks. On the day we went to pick her up (after 3 long weeks of missing us), we were told by the trainer that our dog was very anxious to see us. So, they put her into a metal crate to get her to ‘settle down’ before she would be allowed come out to greet us. Our family of 6 was then instructed to sit in chairs, about 5 feet away from the crate our dog was in. As we sat down, the trainer informed us that their team identified, earlier that day, our dog got “Happy Tail” while at their facility. We later found out, Happy Tail only happens with dogs who are anxious and kept in crates that are too small for them, for too long. She then said that they thought they ‘got it (the cut on her tail) under control.’ The trainer then proceeded to keep our dog in the metal crate while she excitedly and repeatedly hit her injured tail against the side of the hard metal bars for over 20 minutes. We had never heard of Happy Tail (as we told the trainer that day) and there are was no instruction or education given to us at that time about it; so, we couldn’t advocate for our sweet, helpless dog. This abuse and negligence by the trainer injured our dogs’ tail to the point of her needing to have an emergency tail amputation surgery. I have attached pictures. When I tried to contact Partners management team, leading up to the surgery, they would not answer my calls or emails. My attempts to communicate with their team were completely ignored. In fact, the owner of Partners Dog Training finally (weeks later) put in an email to me that he instructed his team to not communicate with us and to lock us out of our client portal. He then offered us a $1000 refund and an opportunity to sign a release agreement to never disparage their company. What a joke and a slap in the face. We paid over $5000 for services that we can no longer access. And, thousands more in subsequent vet bills for her tail amputation surgery and after care. If the owner had nothing to hide, he should have been willing to talk to us, professionally. Partners has terrible business practices. The abuse and negligence our dog suffered while at Partners Dog Training is appalling. No dog or family should ever have to experience the heartache, trauma, and stress we are facing today. We encourage you to find another training facility with higher safety standards, level of care, and customer service.

It was a great experience from the start. Anita was very accommodating to my schedule changes. She explained the two week training camp and made me comfortable leaving my pup with them. Lucy my pups trainer was very detailed pre and post training which helped me set boundaries and expectations for my pups return home . Excellent experience so far and looking forward to parent pup training classes that are upcoming .
