Panhandle Dog Trainer

Wow, stunned, shocked, incredible - just a few words that came to mind when our Annie girl returned home from training with Devlin @Panhandle Dog Trainer. Here's our story... Life before the Panhandle Dog Trainer - Annie is our 7-year old plott hound/pitbull-mix rescue who we've had since she was a puppy. Her temperament has always been a bit of a diva / alpha female wanting to be part of the action, yet also anxious in certain situations (storms, fireworks, loud sounds, etc.). She has always been our sweet-Annie-girl-good with humans pup, but our daily walks have become stressful for a lack of better words. Both of our pups are exclusively walked on leash for exercise and going outside (typically 4-5x per day), and to paint the picture they were lovingly renamed 'Tweedledee and Tweedledum'. They were constantly pulling, distracted by everything - SQUIRREL - and God forbid they saw another dog (queue the extreme barking and pulling wanting to go check out the new playgroup). For my husband and I it became very stressful, anxiety-driven, and burdensome to walk them. We needed help; Devlin to the rescue! Life after the Pandhandle Dog Trainer - Our family has been forever changed, walks with Annie are a PURE JOY now! Annie has truly settled into the dog she was always meant to be. My husband and I fight over who gets to walk Annie and who gets to walk 'Teedledum' - our 5-year old lab/border collie-mix rescue who didn't go to training. Annie has been fantastic with her commands, sit - outside - look sharp - heal - come here - inside, so much so that Ryder aka Tweedledum is catching on! You can see his brain spinning and thinking "wooohhh, what is Annie doing, why is she listening to them..., that looks like fun". In the home Annie now prefers her 'place' which is her bed on the floor rather than the couch, which is another big win. In the evenings when we go on solo walks (without Ryder) she is free to walk OFF leash, something we never thought we'd be comfortable with and/or experience with Annie. The moment we see her getting distracted (cat, squirrel, person, OR another dog) we just have to say her name and 'heal' and she remains right by our side; safe and where she's meant to be. It has truly been a blessing and joy to see the transformation in Annie - our sweet sweet Annie girl.

Can’t say enough great things about Devlin and Panhandle Dog Trainer! Our sweet Annie struggled with aggression toward other dogs, and we were honestly at our wits’ end. After her training, she came home unrecognizable, calm, confident, and so much happier. Devlin has a gift and cares deeply about every dog he works with. I’m grateful for the transformation and highly recommend Panhandle Dog Trainer to anyone looking for real, lasting results!

Where to even begin? Devlin has been incredibly professional since our very first phone call. From the beginning, he made me feel very comfortable with making the decision to leave my dog in his care for his board and train program. Kylo, my German Shepherd, was a very anxious boy when he first went to Devlin. When he came home to me a few weeks ago, I could immediately tell the difference in him. While certain places still make him a bit anxious (the vet, duh lol), he is MUCH more manageable and listens to me even in those high-anxious situations for him. Just last weekend, we went to a local park and I worked him there with all the different noises. He did AMAZING! He did not bark at anyone or anything. While we were sitting at a bench, Kylo stayed in a down position by my feet and an older man came by with two very small dogs on flexi leashes. The old Kylo would've been pulling me to get to the dogs. He stayed completely still at my feet and barely paid any attention to the small dogs as the owner stopped to talk with us. None of this would've been possible without Devlin's help. If you're considering sending your dog to him, I'd HIGHLY recommend it. Both Devlin and Rachel are incredibly kind and care about your dog like their own. Once I get another dog down the road, I will 10000000% send them to Devlin for training!

We wrote a much longer review originally, but it seems like our review along with dozens of other five star reviews were lost when the business owner moved location. In summary: Devlin is an INCREDIBLE trainer. I’ve owned three dogs in my life. They all went through various forms of training, including multi-month bird dog training for one of them. Panhandle was far and away the best experience for us and our first born child Rummy (an 80 lb red fox male lab). Devlin’s process, the way he treats the animals, the way he teaches the owners on everything the dog has learned… it’s all perfection. He also makes himself available for questions afterwards. Even now - over a year later - we occasionally text him for feedback on how to address the occasional behavioral issue (ex. humping at doggy day care) or when we have a life event (bringing our new daughter into the world). We consider Devlin an extension of our family. He’s hardworking, intelligent, gifted, and has integrity. He also has a deep respect and love for the dogs he trains. You can’t go wrong with Panhandle.
