Panhandle Dog Trainer

Devlin did a superb job with our high-energy spaniel. She went to him as what some might call “a hot mess” and came home a sweet lady. It was as if she’d been sent to finishing school! It’s refreshing to see someone with such passion for his work. Devlin truly cares about doing what’s best for each dog, and it shows in the results. I can confidently say that sending your dog to Devlin is a great choice.

I have a lot of experience with puppies and adult dogs having owned and rescued about 100 of them. But I am not a trainer and only knew the basics. I decided to take on a protection breed and bought a Presa Canario. I did well with her training and she was a sweetheart until her 2d heat cycle. Between the hormones and a prolonged uti she became reactive toward some dogs and started pulling me down when she lunged at them. I became afraid to walk her and searched for training to help. As she loved to play with her doggie friends I bought a second Presa puppy to keep her company. I went to a local trainer and she got worse! Then I found Devlin and thank goodness I did. Both dogs were sent to board and train and he did a phenomenal job with both. But more importantly he trained me to handle them. He has continued to train and support me in the month since they came home and responded to every text and call. My older one will probably always lunge as she thinks she has to protect me but I am much more confident in handling her and have been taking her for walks again and out to new places with confidence. In fact, I trust him so much I am sending my 8 y/o Schnauzer/Shih Tsu mix to him in February. This one has epilepsy, gastrointestinal disease and has had both ACL’s surgically fixed, and has been attacked and almost killed by a large dog (last 3 in last 2 1/2 yrs) so I don’t let him go anywhere easily. But Devlin and his wife are both medically skilled and incredibly caring and I trust them to take care of him and handle any emergency that may arise. Plus, train him to stop biting and barking/lunging at other dogs and to drop things he picks up on demand so we stop trips to the emergency room every couple months! Darn dog had an endoscopy to remove a whole plastic sauce packet he swallowed about a week ago and gave himself gastritis and a several day hospital stay 3 months ago when he ate something he picked up during a walk.

I made an online inquiry regarding training for Reaper which was quickly followed by a phone call from Devlin. I explained the current issues Reaper had at the time (aggression being the biggest priority). Devlin was wonderful explaining their training program & was incredibly patient with all of my questions. After having an incident at home, I became distraught & I contacted Devlin and discussed what had occurred. As a result, I was able to board Reaper prior to his board & train. I met Rachel when I dropped Reaper was pleased to see how quickly he bonded with Rachel. I trust my dog; if he was ok w/ Rachel then I was as well. Rachel showed us their facility (the training building was nearing completion) and explained a bit more about what I & Reaper could expect. Just from talking to Devlin & meeting Rachel, I KNEW Reaper would be in great hands. Prior to & during Reaper’s training, I received so many videos & pictures of his progress which allowed me to be a part of his training. Devlin explained was that Rachel was working with Reaper a great deal (alongside Devlin) as this would benefit Reaper in the fact that he has a female owner. This is something that I had never thought of & it was one of many things that allowed me to see the professionalism of Devlin & Rachel. All of my questions & concerns were either answered very quickly or if there was a slight delay, I understood as training is what they do. It’s important all their clients get the proper attention & training. ALL questions/concerns were ALWAYS answered. I truly never had an ounce of worry regarding Reaper’s safety & welfare while in Panhandle Dog Training program. Devlin’s professionalism from the start was very apparent. His love for dogs and their success in the training program is a priority; however, Devlin also ensures the owner is successful as well. I equate it to a triangle: PDT dog, and owner. Success cannot be had without all three parts and Devlin ensures the owner has all the tools necessary to keep continuity in training. I look forward to boarding Reaper with PTD & any future training. I have & will continue to recommend PTD to other dog owners. Most importantly, Devlin & Rachel have transformed Reaper into the pup I knew he could be and for that, I’m forever grateful.

We can't say enough good things! We sent Blu (GSD) for Board and Train to address reactivity. Throughout his training we were kept updated with videos and phone calls. We were always impressed with Devlin's professionalism and knowledge. Now that Blu is home, he's much calmer and has a strong foundation that we can build off of to ensure that his training integrates back into our day to day life. We appreciate that Devlin has made himself available for follow up questions and support.
