Panhandle Dog Trainer

We brought our 1 year old German Wiredhair Pointer, Winston, to Devlin ahead of our holiday to England. We believe PDT is the best program in the state. Our Winston is the same goofy dog but now has refined obedience skills. I can finally take him on a long walk without his previous habit of pulling and darting. It gave us peace of mind to know our boy was in great hands, a safe environment and constantly stimulated while we were away. Thank you PDT!

Devlin is the best. My Cowboy is a Llewellin Setter and he was basically a menace before training. Now I enjoy him so much more and make him a part of my day - I can take him swimming at the beach and bring him to dog friendly restaurants with confidence. He used to steal food from the kids and counters, bothered us while we tried to eat a meal, drag me around while I tried to walk him as he chased down squirrels, lizards and birds. I was not taking him out in public when I couldn’t even control him at home. Now he goes everywhere with me. One of the best commands he learned was “place” so now we can enjoy a meal or answer the door without having to manage him. I feel like we also gained a resource for life with Devlin because he has so much experience with such a variety of dogs. Sure he isn’t the cheapest option out there but for us he provided an incredible value and was worth every penny we paid. I particularly liked that Cowboy was trained not only in the training facility but in public and even in Devlin’s house - I’ve done this type of training before elsewhere with other dogs and the dog was not in a house for 6+ weeks and came home with new problems bc they forgot about house rules - not the case with Devlin.

Devlin & his wife are amazing trainers. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a happy, well trained dog. My wife and I have two GSP’s and when we came to Delvin, walks were stressful, public outings were impossible, and we struggled with reactivity. Now we can walk them both together off leash, they are completely focused on us, and I feel confident taking them to any public setting. Devlin takes a personalized approach to each dog and my wife & I are so happy with the results. His 21 day program has changed our lives.

If you’re on the fence about obedience training, I can’t recommend Devlin at Panhandle Dog Trainer enough. We sent our wirehaired pointing griffon, Rudy, when he was 7 months old, and before training… we loved him, but he was a handful. With two young kids and another dog, he was constantly stealing toys and playing keep-away, counter surfing, pulling like crazy on walks, and fighting us every time it was time to go in his crate. We were honestly getting pretty frustrated trying to keep up with him. The difference now is night and day. Rudy is a pleasure to walk, doesn’t counter surf anymore, and even if he grabs one of the kids’ toys, he’ll drop it immediately on command. We can actually cook dinner and eat while he calmly stays on his place bed instead of wondering what he’s getting into next. The biggest change is that we feel like we finally know how to communicate with him. Training him is so much easier now because we’re all speaking the same language. Devlin was great before, during, and after the training, always answering questions and checking in. It’s obvious he genuinely loves these dogs and wants them to succeed. Rudy is still a puppy and still has puppy moments, but our home is so much more enjoyable now. Sending him to Panhandle Dog Trainer was one of the best decisions we’ve made, and I’d recommend Devlin to anyone struggling with obedience training.

Devlin worked with our cocker spaniel Chip, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. When we started, Chip was nervous about other dogs, basically terrified, nervous about anywhere new, and would dart all over the place on the leash, overexcited one minute and scared the next. He’s a completely different dog now. He follows commands, heels properly on walks, and carries himself with real confidence. The training was excellent across the board, and how much Devlin improved the way Chip relates to other dogs was remarkable. That’s a much harder thing to fix than basic obedience, and he handled it beautifully. Devlin is patient, knows exactly what he’s doing, and genuinely cares about the dogs he works with. At the end of training he takes time to teach the owners how to continue and maintain training at home, which is very helpful. If you’re in the panhandle or anywhere in the US and your dog needs help, he’s the one to call.
