We have two relatively new dogs after recently losing two others. One is terrified of my husband, although not of shorter males, and the other one "lunged" at the vet during his first visit. Our vet suggested that we get behavioral help for the reactive dog, and suggested Overdale Kennel. I am super glad that she did! My husband and I have now completed the Dog Beginners Class and we are currently in the class for Advanced Beginners: my husband with Lucy who is afraid of him and me with Otis, the reactive dog. We could not be more pleased and impressed with our experiences. Both Val and Michele have given us numerous tips and suggestions for working with our individual dogs, and it has made a big difference in the way our dogs behave with us and with other dogs in the neighborhood. The socialization of being with other dogs in class really helps as well. Our dogs always seem to be happy to go to class, and they spend the rest of the day sleeping after working hard in class. Our reactive dog, Otis, is one hundred percent better, and our fearful dog is coming along slowly but surely. At least now we know what we have to work on and have the tools to do so when practicing at home. We have also used the Kennel at Overdale and have been super happy with that experience as well. Both dogs seem to have a great time, and my fearful dog's allergies improved greatly due to adding periodic baths. I am very grateful to Val, Michele and the staff at Overdale for helping us to better understand our dogs and for helping us to feel more confident that we can keep them safe through training.
