Out of the Bark - Dog & Puppy Training

I had my first consultation with Megha from Out Of The Bark yesterday, and it was a great experience. From the moment we met, she made me feel comfortable and took the time to answer all of my questions. She was wonderful with my puppy and gave me so much reassurance as a first-time Australian Shepherd puppy owner. Megha shared helpful training advice that I could start using right away, and she also helped me better understand my puppy’s breed, which gave me a lot more confidence moving forward. It’s clear that she’s knowledgeable, patient, and truly cares about both the dogs and their owners. I reached out to Megha for help with our 10 month old golden retriever, Kevin who had learned some bad manners. He was jumping up on people and very mouthy with the family members. We also have a little senior dog who he would always harass and not leave alone. After just a few sessions he was learning how to be a good boy at home and out on walks. I can't say enough good things about Megha and Out of the Bark. Huey absolutely adores her, and it's obvious she genuinely cares about both the dogs and their people. We started with private training sessions in a variety of real-world environments—our home, the training facility, parking lot, and walking paths. Megha even brought in other dogs so Huey could practice around distractions in a controlled way. Every session was personalized, practical, and focused on building skills that translated to everyday life. When Megha encouraged me to join a group class, I was hesitant. My previous experiences with group training had been chaotic—too many puppies, too many distractions, and not much learning. Out of the Bark's approach is completely different. The classes begin with dividers covered by sheets between each dog, allowing them to focus and succeed without being overwhelmed. As the dogs progress, distractions are introduced gradually by removing the sheets / dividers. It’s such a thoughtful and effective method that sets both dogs and owners up for success. What makes Megha truly exceptional is that she doesn't just train dogs—she teaches people how to better understand and communicate with them. Huey is an active, incredibly smart Vizsla, which means he learns quickly but also needs consistency and clear expectations. Megha has given me the knowledge and confidence to be a better handler, and as a result, build a stronger relationship with Huey. I couldn't be more grateful for Megha's guidance. Our Mastiff attended puppy training at Out of Bark in Livermore, and we had such a great experience. From the very first class, we received so much valuable information that I still use to this day. The training was helpful, practical, and easy to apply at home, especially with a large-breed puppy.
