Opportunity Barks Behavior & Training

We had previously trusted Opportunity Barks with our 2-year-old dog, but our most recent 10-day stay was extremely disappointing. The manager at the boarding and training facility has changed in the past year, and unfortunately, our experience under the new management was far below the standards we had previously expected. When we picked him up, he had diarrhea and arrived with a soiled behind — yet we were never notified of any stomach issues during his stay. He also had a deep scratch across his nose, which we only noticed in the daily photos and had to point out to staff ourselves in order to get him proper care. When we submitted a review after his stay, staff claimed they had informed us about the scratch and that he hadn’t had any stomach issues while in their care. Diarrhea is very evident with our white Samoyed, as his fur gets soiled and requires extra cleaning, so their claims felt like gaslighting rather than honest communication. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes or committing to improve, staff told us we were no longer welcome and even blocked our portal login. Their response was dismissive, unprofessional, and demonstrated a complete lack of accountability. For the health and safety of your dog, stay away from Opportunity Barks and their unethical, unprofessional behavior.

The entire team at OpBarks is OUTSTANDING! Huge shoutout to Monica and Leigh who are not only incredible humans, but care so deeply about their clients and helping them every step of the way. From first point of contact Monica has been beyond exceptional explaining all programs and following-up throughout my visits/classes. If you are a new dog pawrent and looking for any training, puppy socials, boarding, etc. look no further. I cannot recommend OpBarks enough!!! We + Oswald LOVE you guys!!

Our puppy is 16 weeks old and we had to go away for almost a week, so we reluctantly dropped our new to us baby at the boarding facility in Quakertown for a whole week! We got a great deal of help from Brian and Monica as far as getting everything set up for the drop off. The communication of this company is outstanding I have to say that none of this would’ve been possible without the original help of Monica who took this senior citizen through a number of steps so that I could get organized enough online to get this 1 week boarding time set up. Monica had to call me a few times, the poor thing, and she ushered me through a lot of my tech hiccups and worries, etc. through text messages so I feel like I know her well enough to just go hang out at a great coffee shop in the city and chat away! My new bff! I also hit another stumbling block which Brian helped me through after Monica once again (!) assisted me. A hearty shout out to Brian as well for his patience with me. Again, without both Monica and Brian… there would have been no week long visit for Miso and no review! I’m signing up for regular Puppy classes starting in April and I’m so excited. Also… the team sent us regular photos and videos of our puppy while we were away alleviating MY separation anxiety and it looks like she has learned a great deal in a short time not to mention learning how to gallivant on a woodsy trail even though she’s only about 3 pounds! Thank you to the team, we are devoted Opportunity Barks clients for the lifetime of this dog. We will definitely use them for boarding again when we take weekend trips and how wonderful to know that we can go to Europe or the shore for a week with this capable team, loving our puppy. Gratitude to all of the people behind the scenes who I did not mention because I may not have met you yet. If you're debating whether or not to use Opportunity Barks: please, just do it. After losing our senior dog, we decided we were finally ready to adopt. We fell in love with a stray, but bringing her home was a shock to us: she was anxious, didn't know how to settle, and didn't respond to commands at all. We started trying to train her, but every technique that had worked with our previous dog failed with Noodle. I found myself crying multiple times a day from the stress, unsure of whether we should rehome her. We decided to try training with Opportunity Barks and signed up for the Drop-Off Classes. It felt like Noodle became a different dog within a week, but realistically, our trainer, Ashlee, simply gave us the right tools to use for training her. Ashlee taught us how to help Noodle settle when she was anxious; how to connect with, bond, and enrich her through play; and how to have her be a proper lady on leash (we've since learned she's a Malamute with the potential to get up to 100lbs, so we're very very grateful to have those skills!). Noodle improved every single week, and today, six weeks later, she is the best dog we could ask for (if still a little mischievous). Not only did Ashlee lay a solid foundation of training, but she was incredible to work with. While she is a trainer, Ashlee also played the role of therapist for us: she listened to our concerns, asked for videos when things weren't working, and offered up advice on how to move forward. She did all of this empathetically and without making us feel less than for any failures or imperfections. It's clear Noodle loves Ashlee: happy ears, a wagging tail, and little awoos is how she went into OPB every single day (peep the way Noodle looks at Ashlee in the photo!). We'll be taking Noodle back for any additional classes we can. The joy of owning Noodle today surpasses even the stress of those first few days, and I feel confident attributing that to the help we received from Ashlee.
