Off Leash K9 Training, Charlottesville

We enrolled our 10-month-old yellow Labrador retriever in a 2-week board and train program. Luckily, we got Lauren as our trainer, and the experience has been completely worth the money. Initially, we were hesitant, but the results were outstanding. Our dog had no recall, would counter surf, beg during dinner, chew our shoes, and bark when bored. Being a high-energy dog, he needed a lot of stimulation, and his leash manners were terrible, almost choking himself during walks. After two weeks, we have a transformed dog. I remember the day Lauren trained me on everything Charlie had learned, and I couldn't believe the change in him. We can now take him anywhere in public without jumping or needing a leash. We're completely confident in his recall abilities and can even let him off leash around other dogs. Charlie learned commands like Sit, Down, Come, Place, and Load. His door manners are impeccable, and I can leave him in a place command while I step out, and he won't move. I can't speak highly enough of this training experience. Lauren sent us daily reports, amazing photos, and videos. She treated him like her own dog, and we are incredibly thankful. Off Leash K9 Training has earned our business for years to come!

We sent our pup Bruce to the 2-week board & train with our trainer, Tyla & we couldn’t recommend both this program & Tyla MORE! Bruce was an 18 month old reactive Aussie who couldn’t be walked without whining barking crying lunging & literally screaming at every person, dog, car, cones, decorations, anything. This program & Tyla have changed our life & relationship with Bruce for the better! We ultimately wanted to bond with Bruce better & get him to feel safer in his environment & we truly feel we got just that! Tyla reached out a few weeks ahead to gather info about Bruce, what he needed to work on, & our goals for him. You could tell immediately that Tyla truly loves what she does & her excitement to work with Bruce made us all the more comfortable with the process. We met Tyla on the send-off date and pretty quickly she reached out to us just to let us know that Bruce was settling in well (which was a huge relief!) and each night we got very thorough run downs of the day, videos, and photos of Bruce to keep up with & get us more comfortable with his new commands as well. We’d look forward to our update every night ☺️ 2 weeks flew by & we already noticed so much of a change from the videos with Bruce. We then had our 2 hour meeting with Tyla where she gave us a run down of the 2 weeks & then proceeded to take my husband & I through a training session with Bruce. She was SO thorough & SO excited to show us how far Bruce progressed. She was open, honest, & just so happy to being doing what she does & seeing how much Bruce progressed as well. Tyla reiterated that she WANTED to receive updates on Bruce’s progress in the future & to reach out if there’s any issues or problem areas she could help with!! Tyla did such an amazing job with Bruce, he went from a reactive crazy 18 month Aussie to a gentleman. Now we comfortably walk Bruce & he gets to enjoy & explore his world without being fearful & reactive. We highly recommend Tyla & Off Leash K9 11/10 & are hoping to send our other pup there as well!

My wife and I had a fantastic experience with Offleash K9 Training Charlottesville, and specifically with our trainer Lauren. We adopted a 2 year old pit bull and she is a FANTASTIC dog, but we quickly discovered one BIG problem. We have cats in the house, and although we expected the typical cat/dog issues and an adjustment period that would could work/train through ourselves, we quickly figured out that it was more than a “I want to chase the cats” scenario. After an incident while walking our dog outside involving a bird and then doing some research, we discovered Chloe (our dog) has what’s known as “ high prey drive” and was not so much a nuisance to our kitties, but was indeed a danger. We contacted K9 Offleash for help because we want all the animals in our house to be happy and safe. Offleash K9 offers two ways to train your dog at different price points; in-your-home training, or they can actually take your dog to live with the trainer for two weeks for more in depth training. Given the seriousness of our issue, we opted to have her live with Lauren for the training. During our drop off, we could immediately tell Lauren was going to have a great rapport with our dog. Those two weeks Chloe was gone, we got a report card every night detailing the training Chloe had been working on that day, how well she did with it, how her eating was going, as well as any medical issues noticed and even pictures and video! It was a GREAT way to actually SEE how Chloe was progressing. At pick up, Lauren demonstrated everything Chloe had learned and then turned the reins over to us under her guidance to teach us how to use Chloe’s commands. She took a great dog and made her even better. How did she do at home with the cats? Well, the training is a fantastic starting block and Lauren certainly worked on that with Chloe, but she had to learn for herself when she got home that WE had new expectations for her. Lauren gave us the tools and the groundwork to continue training at home….and it’s gone fantastic. I don’t think I’ll ever fully trust Chloe to be bestie’s with our kitties, especially unattended, but the immediate aggression just isn’t there any more. Chloe is now crystal clear that we now expect her to peacefully co-exist with our kitties….and we are extremely grateful. Thank you SO MUCH Offleash K9 Training and Lauren! You guys are awesome!
