Off Leash K9 Training

I was hesitant at first to do the full board and train program due to the cost, but I also know how much I like well-behaved dogs. I also wanted our newly rescued 10-month old pup to be able to go on runs and hikes with me without worry. As a pitbull mix, Nilly already has to deal with an unfair stigma attached to her breed. I wanted to ensure she had the right level of training to put anyone at ease. Fast forward to the end of the program yesterday. What an amazing change! She obeyed the commands from both of my teenagers and me. She was always a sweet dog, but had a stubborn streak in her. Now she obeys (sometimes begrudgingly but still obeys), doesn't pull on the leash, and is a dream to be around. Moriah was an exceptional trainer who sent us videos, pictures, and text updates during the two-week program. Nilly learned come, sit, down, extended sit, extended down, come to heel, heel, place, send to crate, watch, and advanced door manners, all through distractions too. It was worth every penny! If you're on the fence about it, don't be. You'll be glad you invested in your family this way and the trainers are every bit as invested in your dog as you are.

My family had a consultation today for the 2 week board & train program at their Astrozon location. We arrived 10 minutes early as I would with any appointment however, a training was in session so we were acknowledged but left to wait outside while it was snowing. There was no benches or chairs and the area immediatly outside of the business was strewn with trash. After we were invited in a homeless man proceeded to pull his shopping cart up near the entrance. My husband saw him pull his pants down exposing his rear end, forcing me to shield my young child from this. The trainer went out and seemingly requested he leave, which he did, leaving his belongings behind. During our tour of the kennel area we inquired whether there were trainers that worked on the weekend. We were informed the trainers work 7 days/week although the woman who met with us was the only trainer present. There were several dogs in the kennels (5?) and with only one trainer present consulting with us it left us wondering if the dogs were being worked with at all today. For $2,650.00 I would certainly expect my dog be worked with everyday during the stay. The trainer that met with us seamed knowledgeable and did offer some tips we will follow regarding managing our dogs excitement level. Ultimately we decided that we will proceed with another training facility.
