OBK9 is an AMAZING training academy for young and old pups. When we came in for our evaluation, they were honest with us that Gunter has severe separation anxiety from us and that it would take a lot of work to get him food motivated and achieve obedience skills for him to be successful in the program. We were determined to get him where he needed to be and OBK9 was determined to help us and him get there. Kelly was our trainer and she did an amazing job. Gunner is a six year-old beagle mix that had severe separation anxiety and would mildly resource regard. As in his nature, he would bark at anything that moved or any unfamiliar sound he heard. He was not food motivated at all, was in fight or flight everywhere but home, and was not easy to travel with. After participating in the 7 week program (3 weeks at home, 7 weeks in person), G is now a “brewery dog.” He is so focused and tuned into us. He is confident, not scared. He will just settle and observe the world now—and we love that for him. He still has anxiety, but he is slowly overcoming it each week we continue working with him. He is able to play nicely with other dogs and no longer resource guards. We can take him on rides, to brewery’s, coffee shops, and OBK9s daycare and he is such a good boy everywhere. OBK9 knows the psychological and training to get your dog where they need to be, but us as dog owners have to commit the time and energy at home to help our dogs achieve those goals. If we don’t commit the time at home, it is not guaranteed to see any improvement. We started the program in late February, ended in early April, and have kept the structure through today. G has some freedoms, but maintaining that structure has worked well for him and well for us. Thank you Kelly and OBK9!!
