NWB Dogs

We put our 5-month-old German Shepherd in the 'board and train' program and it was TRANSFORMATIVE for the dog and our family! Before the program, our dog would jump, bite, run off, and not listen. Matt and Jen did a complete 180 on her. She listens, she's sweet, and best of all - my children aren't afraid of her anymore! Matt and Jen also trained us on how to handle our dog, and gave us great training techniques and tools to take home so we can keep our training going. I can't recommend them enough! 100% worth it.

North West Balanced Dogs is a wonderful organization and team to work with. We had our Great Dane, Sammie, in an extensive training program and so appreciate what all of us learned. We are now working with Matt as we select another Great Dane pup. We had a one hour phone consultation and have pages of excellant information to take into consideration. Updated review - After attending NWB Dogs E-Collar Seminar I had to come back and update my review! The online course has been amazing, but training with Matt and Jen in person is even better!! The two day seminar was a perfect mix of working with dogs, learning the theory behind their training philosophy, and playing training games with the other humans. My biggest learning moment came during one of those games, when acting as the handler while one of the other attendees was acting as the dog. It suddenly clicked to me how crucial timing is during training and how easy it is for handler and dog to interpret the same moment differently. Matt and Jen did a great job of getting us comfortable with the e-collar and teaching us training exercises and games to continue working on at home. Thanks to their philosophy of teaching a dog to love a behavior, my malamute walked in a heel on a walk for the first time today, without me asking for the behavior! I can’t recommend NWB Dogs highly enough and can’t wait to train with them again! Original review - My six year old rescue dog and I have been working through Jen and Matt’s online training program through NWB. We are loving it!! They taught us how to build food drive and use his daily food as a training tool. He comes flying when he hears the clicker, and we have been able to successfully improve his long line recall using his food drive! He’s learning to chill while we chill, and his sit has improved dramatically. The course has been worth every penny, especially as someone with weird work hours that make it challenging to make an in person training class. I can’t wait to keep working through the course and hopefully train with Jen and Matt in person someday!

Matt and Jen know dogs, and they KNOW dog training! I just came out of a 2 day workshop on the basics of how to use an e collar. WOW, I learned soooo much! I’m a trail runner, and my primary goal was to have solid recall for my dog. I learned about the e collar, but I also learned how to break down and teach desired behaviors so that my dog can understand and WANT to do them through FUN and PLAYFUL interactions. Jen and Matt were very thorough in their explanations, answered everyone’s questions, and made sure to check in as we worked with our dogs. They also had the dog owners role play both as a dog handler and as a dog so that we could learn through a dog’s perspective. I was totally blown away! I feel like my dog and I are better bonded, and we’re learning to be a team! I know I have so much more to learn, so I will be back. Take my word for it, NWB Dogs is THE place for dog training!
