Denise truly understands dog psychology and communicates well with them. She is caring, passionate and patient, treating the dogs respectfully with an even-keeled approach. My dog came home more responsive to commands and clearly bonded with Denise. She kept him two weeks longer to make sure he was ready, which I appreciated, even though I missed my little fellow. She sent updates during his stay, and I enjoyed watching the videos of her working with Jasper and interacting with the dogs during playtime. She was informative and easy to learn from when coaching me on how to maintain the training afterward. Denise is clearly a good trainer who cares about the animals.

I wanted so desperately for this to be a positive experience. Denise started out with good communication and pictures. Then things became awkward and communication slowed up and I had to REQUEST updates instead of her automatically sending them like she promised before and at drop off. A summary of my experience is below in a letter I wrote to her 2 weeks after the training b/c I didn't want to talk to her anymore because she induces my anxiety. Hi Denise, The purpose of this letter is to share with you issues I had with you and your service. When I dropped Elijah off on April 11, based on our conversation and interaction, I felt comfortable and even encouraged with you working with and caring for him. But over the course of the two weeks, your actions gave me pause as to whether I should continue. During our initial meeting, you mentioned that the anniversary of your mother’s death was days away and that is a challenging time for you. While I completely empathized with you, in hindsight, we should have rescheduled Elijah’s start date. I am sure that your emotional state interfered with your ability to focus on Elijah’s training. Also, during that period, I had to reach out to you to request photos and videos of Elijah, after I was clear when we met that I wanted daily photos and videos. Barely a week into his training, you mentioned that it was your birthday and that you would be going out to celebrate. While that is not an issue, per se, you used going out and partying as a justification for delays in updates. Your personal life should not interfere with the job that you are being paid to do. By this point, my gut was telling me to get my dog. But you assured me that everything was ok and that you were on track with Elijah’s training. When I am finally feeling less uneasy about the situation, you then informed me that your ex-husband passed away while out of the country with your daughter and you’re having to find a way to get her back to the states from Canada. Again, I had empathy for what was happening. But again, something else was causing an interruption to Elijah’s training. I also thought that it was very unprofessional of you to keep mentioning the go fund me that your daughter had created for assistance for her father. This was a lot for a two-week period. I know that life happens and things come up, but as a professional, you did not manage the circumstances in a manner that should have put your client at ease. I cannot imagine that you had very much time to work Elijah, considering you also had other dogs that were also in your care and being trained. I am disappointed with the overall experience because you came very highly recommended. But you did not live up to any of the expectations that I had. Not only did you provide less than acceptable services, but you also made no attempt to offer at least a partial refund since I very obviously received partial services. Offering to come to my home for a couple of hours does not make up for two weeks of incomplete service. Please note that I have spoken with the owners Dawg Team about my experience, as they are the ones who recommended your services. They deserved feedback on the businesses that they are referring customers to. Best. PS: There has been no noticeable change in my pup's behavior. He continues to pull on the leash and his recall is nonexistent. I think your intentions were probably good, but you missed the mark COMPLETELY on my fur baby's training expectations. The money spent and time away from him was a stressful waste.
