Newton Pack Dog Training

I brought my 1-year-old female GSD to Newton Pack after she had already completed a 3-week board-and-train program elsewhere for reactivity and anxiety-related behaviors. From the start, my experience here was completely different in the best way. Logan conducted a thorough evaluation before accepting her, which immediately stood out to me since the previous trainer hadn’t done that. When I dropped her off, the team spent about 30 minutes helping her acclimate to the facility and the trainers, which gave me a lot of confidence in their approach. I was actually out of the country during her stay, but I never once felt worried about her care or progress. Logan regularly sent updates with videos and photos of her training sessions, playgroups, and outings, which I really appreciated. After the program, we had a go-home lesson and even a follow-up session at a local park and at the facility. I’m still in touch with Logan for continued guidance to make sure we’re building on everything she learned. As her handler, I now feel significantly more confident taking her out in public and handling her reactivity when it arises. I highly recommend Newton Pack to anyone looking for knowledgeable, communicative, and truly dedicated trainers!

Logan is truly a gifted behavioral dog trainer and his techniques embrace real life focused on giving freedom to both dogs and their owners. He and his team (Gillian and Marina) at Newton Pack bring a remarkable combination of calm, clarity, and expertise to their work. I came to Logan with a somewhat complex situation: two rescue littermates (same mom, different dads), each wonderful in their own way—and each with their own challenges. My girl is a Staffie/Boxer mix, and my boy is a Staffie/Boxer with about 60% Boykin Spaniel. My girl struggled with separation anxiety—something I didn’t fully understand the depth of until working with Logan. My boy had fear-based reactivity toward dogs he does not know. At times his reactivity would trigger her escalating, which left me not wanting to walk them together. Even walking my boy alone in my neighborhood was difficult, as many people allow their dogs off leash which can unnerve the leashed dog. Right before finding Newton Pack, I had sent both to trainers several for several weeks. I essentially received collar-trained dogs back. At the time that felt acceptable—if they wore an e-collar 100% of the time, I could manage them. I wanted to do more training including recall, pack walks, and boundary setting in a new home... but for personal reasons, I opted out of going back to our initial trainers I searched and found Newton Pack and had a preliminary conversation with Logan – who instantly made me feel heard and he acknowledged our unique situation. We went in for an initial evaluation, and honestly, it changed everything. Logan was thoughtful in his evaluation and acknowledged that the training had given me technically (e-collar) trained dogs—but he also helped me understand the limitations of relying solely on the collar for control which uncovered this wasn’t true freedom for them or for me. His perspective was balanced, respectful, and incredibly insightful. So, my two eight-year old pups went to Newton Pack for four weeks, and I attended training sessions with Logan once or twice each week. The transformation was beyond anything I could have imagined. Logan’s pack-based, activity-focused, owner-engaged training approach is comprehensive and addresses real-world situations. The level of obedience my dogs now have—with or without a collar—is remarkable. Their recall is exceptional, ability to be around other dogs they don't know is much more calm and managed, and the relaxation and focus they show now is something that surprises me daily. Most importantly, they are both thriving as individual dogs and in our little pack. We learned how to walk together, how to structure our time, and how to live together with clear expectations and boundaries. I now have the tools and confidence to manage them in real-world situations. As a worthy aside – something I never expected -- Logan also helped my girl learn to love her crate. I had never realized that giving her a true “den” space to settle into would actually help her relax and ease her separation anxiety—but he nailed it. My boy is still building comfort with his crate, which is pending long-term success, but he’s eight and thanks to the techniques Logan’s team taught me, we continue to make steady progress. The training sessions where I was actively involved were gold. Newton Pack didn’t just train the dogs—they taught me how to work with them. He even came to my new home to help us establish structure, boundaries, and routines so the transition with my move would be successful for all of us. I am honestly amazed—but more than anything, deeply grateful. The notes and take-home guidance they provided are incredibly thorough and have become our blueprint moving forward. And, the kindness of each of them toward me and my pups was so greatly appreciated. I continue to work with Newton Pack so we can keep building on this progress and so I can be the best advocate and handler possible for my dogs. Our lives have truly changed for the better. Hire this guy!! I interviewed with four trainers and selected Logan because he checked off both my must-have criteria, competence and compassion… later discovered he’s super cool, easy-going and a genuinely good person. He took the time to get to know me and my two pups as we worked together, understanding my weaknesses and coaching me to be a better dog owner. He showed me how to use the tools and techniques that I needed, but was apprehensive of, to correct my dogs’ behavior. Walking these two serial squirrel killers through my nuthouse neighborhood is no longer a stressful event. In fact, just yesterday, a dog on the other side of the street became aggressive when seeing us. I recognized the owner had control of the dog, and we strolled right on with no reaction from my girls. Before training, that would have been a complete battle to keep my 140lbs of dogs calm. Sit down and get comfy, this’ll be a long, heartfelt review, because without Logan + Newton Pack, things would look very different for us dog-wise. We found a difficult dog on the side of the road. He was reactive, dog-selective, stubborn as hell, and easy to stigmatize. But we fell in love with the free dog no one wanted and he got along great with our older dog. Until he didn’t. Enter Logan + Newton Pack who, through their Board + Train program and continuing lessons (our request, not their suggestion or requirement), have given us the reality check, education, tools, and confidence to give *both* our boys safe, fulfilling, fun, loving lives. So what started out as a traumatic, stressful process has become fun and, dare I say, deeply fulfilling for both the boys and myself. We explore local trails off-leash and have breed-specific enrichment + playtime, which are deepening our bond. Again, all because of Logan and Newton Pack. Now, a note specifically on Logan… Logan has been available to us every step of the way. Always patient, empathetic, and calm, but honest, realistic, and direct. He has a God-given gift for working with dogs — and their owners (a rare combination). We are so grateful for him and his lovely team. We recommend him to anyone who will listen — they’ve changed our lives and given our guy another chance. Now, that said, working with Newton Pack has has required work on our part (obviously). And it’s worth saying that you’re dissatisfied, it’s because you didn’t put in the work afterwards.

Thanks to his patient, thoughtful guidance, Winnie now walks beautifully on leash, responds to cues we once thought impossible, and radiates happy confidence.
