Advanced obedience is offered through the 12-week boot camp. The course includes field trips into public places, off-leash heeling, off-leash recall (long distance), down from a distance, and a high level consistency to commands even under distraction.
Puppy boot camp includes socialization with other friendly dogs, permanent command associations, on-leash and off-leash control, leash manners, proper etiquette with humans, and life shaping experiences to develop an ideal canine companion.
Foundation obedience training is the building block for dogs to have a better life. We spend several weeks going through hundreds of repetitions of each obedience command building permanent command associations, and precision responses to each exercise. Our team of professionals do it right. :)
Group obedience teaches dogs how to respond to command in the presence of other dogs, which can be a big competing motivator. Responding to commands independently teaches command discrimination, it heightens the focus on the handler, and teaches dogs to work as a team.

Leash manners are the gateway for a dog to enjoying longer walks, and getting to go more places to do more things with the family. We teach loose leash walking, formal heel position, sitting automatically at a crosswalk, and not jumping on humans as part of the leash manners at boot camp.

What age can you enroll a puppy into puppy boot camp?
4-months of age or older. While you can enroll a puppy later on in life, it is ideal to enroll while the puppy is young, impressionable, and still learning social skills. The most ideal age to enroll a puppy into puppy boot camp is between 4-6 months of age.

Hello All I was watching a video by Neumans K-9 Academy and was impressed. I am getting a Shiloh Shepherd in July but live in a Detroit suburb and cannot take my dog to Neumans. Is there a dog academy in my area that can produce the same results?
Congratulations on your soon-to-be new member of the family. Unfortunately, we do not know of any dog boot camps in your area. Here at the Academy, we do receive dogs from all over the country for our course. If you would like to discuss having your dog come to our camp, please feel welcome to contact us direct. We are happy to help guide you through the process or even accommodate the transport right to your front door.

We originally brought our dog to Neuman K-9 Academy when Bella was 2 years old. She was out of control. We had to make the decision to get serious help or face rehoming her. Being a strong breed, we knew that we needed to get control to prevent any issues. We sent her to their bootcamp for 12 weeks. When she came back, even our 6 year old could walk her confidently. They truly saved our dog from a life of moving home to home or worse. Bella is 12 now and we are grateful we found them. They are the only place we will ever board her and any dogs we get in the future will all be trained at Neuman's.

All 3 of our dogs have gone to Neuman K-9 Academy and all have had excellent results. We had two dogs that were COVID dogs and needed more socialization and major obedience training. They both went to the 12 week program and came home with the same lovely personalities minus all the bad behavior. Walks have become a joy not a struggle. I only wish I had done it sooner. Then we got a Golden Retriever puppy last year that was planned to become a service dog for our teenager. We put her through the 12 week puppy boot camp. While it was hard to say goodbye to her for 16 weeks, she came home a delightful puppy with all of her personality and ready for her service dog training. She learned her tasks so fast and was truly ready to be out in public helping our teen. Now she has completed her first month of college with our now adult child. She is doing great and has really opened up the world for our child. We are forever grateful! Thank you, Josiah, Summer, Mya and all the wonderful people at Neuman!

We are beyond impressed with our experience at Neuman K9 Academy! Millie attended the 12-week puppy camp, and the transformation has been incredible. From day one, Mia was wonderful to work with—her communication was excellent, and she kept us updated with weekly reports and pictures. It was so reassuring to see Millie’s progress and know she was in great hands. What stood out the most was how much they prioritized Millie’s health and well-being during her stay. That gave us so much peace of mind. They also prepared us for what to expect when she came home, including how she might test us a bit, which turned out to be completely true! Thankfully, with the tools and knowledge they gave us, we’ve been able to handle those challenges confidently. One of my biggest concerns going into this was that Millie might lose her goofy, fun personality—but that was not the case at all. She came home just as playful as ever, but now she responds to all of her commands with absolute precision. The balance between discipline and personality is amazing. The handler training they provided us with at the end is truly priceless. We feel so much more confident as dog owners and know how to continue reinforcing everything Millie learned. We can’t thank Neuman K9 Academy enough for the incredible work they’ve done with Millie. Highly recommend to anyone looking for world-class training and care!
