Nebraska Dog Trainers

Our puppy, Rogue, was treated very well, and the basic training was successful. We have seen lasting improvements in her behavior, and I also learned a great deal about how to continue teaching and working with her at home. Our trainer, Morgan, was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. It was clear that she knew what she was doing, and we were very pleased with the basic training experience. Beyond the basic training, we chose to add therapy dog training. Unfortunately, this part of the program did not meet our expectations. The group testing experience seemed to lack many of the positive qualities that Morgan brought to the basic training. I felt the testing atmosphere was cold and did not give Rogue a fair opportunity to demonstrate her friendliness and ability to accept strangers. Rogue has never been aggressive or mean; she is simply cautious around new people until she has a chance to become comfortable with them. Overall, I believe the basic training was worthwhile and successful, and I was very pleased with Morgan as our trainer. However, I feel the therapy dog portion of the program lacked the approach and environment needed to give Rogue the best opportunity to succeed. Considering our experience, I do not feel the additional cost for the therapy dog training was justified.

If you are hesitant at all with board & train, and have tried everything you can think of, I highly recommend Nebraska Dog Trainer w/ Shyra. We came in with a fairly well trained dog knowing the basics, but he is an energetic Lab who didn’t have leash manners, manners in public and/or home. We have a 16 month old lab & decided to give the 2 week board & train a shot and we are SO happy we did. Sure, it’s pricey but they give you the cost up front AND it’s worth every penny. Our goal was to have a dog that we could take on hikes; out in public; not jump on people….and Shyra did a phenomenal job with that and we are so grateful. It has been fun continuing his training at home & in public with the tools Shyra provided us with. The biggest reason why board & train may not work for some dog owners is because the hoomans are the ones who need to be trained, so you have to be committed to learning all the techniques that the trainer provides to you and to continue it on afterwards. Great thing about NDT is they provide free refreshers if you feel your dog has regressed somewhere. Again….highly recommend board & train with Shyra, but I’m sure their training sessions are great, too!

Our family cannot begin to thank Nebraska Dog Training enough! We sent our 1 year old golden retriever australian shepherd mix to their 2 week board and train package. Our trainer was Mikaela, and I cannot begin to say enough good things about her. Right at the start of the process, Mikaela listened to all of our wants and needs for Hank, along with reassuring us that she would be able to address all of our concerns properly with him. Throughout the two weeks, Mikaela sent us updates with pictures and videos of Hank’s progress. On day 1, she already had him doing things we couldn’t get him to do while having him for over a year. It’s been a week of Hank being back with us and he is a completely different dog in the best way! He still has his awesome personality? but knows his boundaries and commands so so well! I cannot recommend Nebraska Dog Training enough to anyone looking to get their dogs trained!
