I struggled with training my 2 deaf dogs, Riley and Winston, for over 2 years. Once I moved to NC, I found NCK9 and went for a consultation. I LOVE the fact that they bring you in for a consult before agreeing to train your dog. It allows time for them to assess what the dog needs and to discuss with the owner goals they have in mind for their dog(s). Jim and his team are by far some of the most qualified in the area for dog training. I was impressed with what they offered in terms of training, especially given my case with 2 deaf dogs. After 4 weeks, Riley and Winston are brand new dogs! They walk well on a leash, they stay in their place when commanded, they don’t bark throughout the night, they are better crate trained, they don’t jump up on people or beds or couches anymore. I can take my dogs to breweries and stores and they BEHAVE! (see attached photos). Honestly, if I could give 6 stars I would. When you decide to use their board and train program, you get to go back for follow up sessions for life! We have already been back for follow up sessions to keep their skills in check. It’s not that my dogs NEEDED a follow up, but I want to keep them up with training and the fact that we get to go back to their beautiful farm to train every once in a while is an opportunity I won’t pass up. Jim and his wife make you feel like family and your dogs feel that too!

I waited a long time to write this, I sent my dog in may of 2024 for the 4 week training course. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt that he just needed to adjust to having me be his new “trainer” in order to fully see the results. However, after many MANY weeks and months of training with him myself, he is still fully reliant on the shock collar in order to even slightly behave around other dogs or on a leash. On a leash he has the pinch collar on and the shock collar, and he still reacts crazily to another dog passing by. When I picked him up he was thin and very unhappy, however he is an anxious dog so I’m not necessarily correlating that to the facility. I think the $4500 was a waste of money completely, I could have bought a $30 shock collar to have the same results.
