Naked Dog Training

We just completed our training and if you are dealing with any sort of aggression with your dog I highly highly recommend this program. John and all of the staff are amazing, and they aligned with us and what we were looking for. We went to a different program before this one that was very militant, no dogs on beds, etc. more so about learning commands - we like to have our dog as more a member of our family, he’s allowed on furniture and our bed - but our dog needs to respect us and yes commands are important as well. Naked Dog Training immediately felt different, they could understand our desire to have Marty be a part of our family. However, Marty showed a timidity that led to escalating aggression and reactivity towards people coming into our home or yard. With Naked Dog Training he has truly grown in confidence and behaviors and we now have tools to transfer everything they’ve taught him to ourselves. We’ve successfully had lots of people now and other dogs over this summer and it’s gone really well since the training. For a while I was feeling really hopeless, but Naked changed all that, and I’m so happy to have found them.

I have owned German Shepherds for almost 30 years and, over that time, I have never had an obedience program that compares to the one offered by John’s Naked Dog Training. Enrolled in the 6-week boarding program for aggression, my dog Seamus was trained patiently, professionally and with great care.  He left the program a well-trained, obedient dog that I can rely on to respond to commands eagerly and consistently. I don't normally write reviews, but this training program went above and beyond my expectations, providing exceptional service and support.   It is evident that John and his entire team care deeply about the dogs they train and are dedicated to creating a program tailored to the needs of each individual (dog and owner alike). I want to extend my gratitude to John and his entire team. I could not recommend them more highly!

We have a large dog that needed basic obedience training and was starting to show signs of aggression. We interviewed other dog training facilities in northwest Indiana and did not feel comfortable after our interviews. After consulting with an excellent veterinarian, Dr. Paula Bratich, we were referred to Naked Dog Training. Our questions were answered during a conference call with the owner of Naked dog Training, John Whitiker. We discussed in depth the issues of our dog. He explained a training path that fit the needs of our dog and family. He offered inhouse training at their facility which is 1,000 miles from where we live. We arrived and toured the facility and ultimately left our dog for the time frame needed for the training. We spent 2 full days observing them training dogs. The facility is frequently cleaned with environmentally save products throughout the day. The staff was friendly and forth coming with helpful advice. We were notified our dog was ready and we proceeded to travel to pick up our dog. Again, we spent several days being trained on properly commanding our dog with much praise to the animal. They went into much detail of each command with us operating our dog thru these commands. The 3 day experience is an eye opener on how much training each dog receives. The return trip home was a 1,000 mile trip that was a pleasurable experience with our dog following all his commands. The lengthy drive is worth this level of training.

We got our English mastiff mix as a puppy . We started training immediately as he was going to be a large dog and wanted to be proactive . He was great and very social with both dogs and people . When he was 2 we got him neutered and slowly noticed subtle more aggressive side of him . He suddenly was a nightmare on leash even with his e collar and had been board training at a different facility more local to where we live . We immediately took him back for weekly sessions to work on this without any resolve . Then we did in home training with a trainer I have worked successfully with in the past nothing . And he had a few incidents where he started aggression with a few people . We have a busy house hold and grandchildren here and I was thinking I had to rehome Moose I was devastated. When I randomly googled out of desperation and saw the Naked Dog and immediately called for evaluation even though it was over an hour away on a good day . We were so hopeful at evaluation we left him for what we thought was 4 weeks that turned to 5 as he was willful. They kept up and eventually Moose learned with the help of Nick his trainer and John . We brought him home tonight and he is a changed dog . We will continue going for classes to complete his training . When we went to visit he happily trotted off tail wagging with his trainer Nick which really make me feel at ease . We can’t thank them enough for giving us this second chance with Moose . Addison also was great to work with helping get updates and scheduling our classes . We look forward to continuing our journey with Moose and our new friends at The Naked Dog

Honestly, I'm thrilled with the progress I've seen with my dog because of Naked Dog Training. I've been struggling with my 5 year old dog's reactivity to other dogs since she was.a puppy and have tried multiple other trainers over the years without progress. It was disheartening, to say the least. I eventually found Naked Dog Training, and decided to give their board and train program a chance. My dog just went through the board and train program, which incorporated obedience and reactivity. The program is designed for at least 3 weeks, and then the dog goes back home and the dog owners come for weekly lessons with their dogs for a period after. Well my dog took 6 weeks for the board and train (she's a smart but stubborn girl so I wasn't surprised at all!) and we've been doing lessons weekly for the past 1 - 1.5 months. The program costs one flat rate, regardless of how much time it takes for the boarding/training/lessons, and this model made me feel secure that they would keep training my dog and frankly, me, until we were in a good place to implement the training and maintain progress at home. The trainers at Naked Dog Training - owner John, Addison, little John, Nick, and Eli - are knowledgeable and clearly experts at what they do. I ask a ton of detailed questions and I can genuinely tell that they want to answer my questions, which I can say is a huge change from other trainers I worked with before Naked Dog Training. The trainers at Naked Dog Training care about progress and how things are going at home, and want to hear my thoughts and concerns, and encourage me to reach out between lessons if there's something that comes up or I have questions. The trainers are patient and thoughtful with their approach, and the the lessons feel tailored to me and my dog. They've made training fun for my dog, and she absolutely loves them. Now, on to results: I've seen a huge shift in my dog. Walks used to be incredibly stressful for me having to manage her reactivity, and I used to dread taking her down the block in case we'd see another dog. Since coming back, she's learning not to pull on the leash or react and I was just able to take her on a 5 mile walk, which is something I haven't been able to do in a very, very long time. She walked past multiple dogs in a row without lunging, which honestly was unheard of for her. That alone feels like a miracle to me, and we are still making more progress each week in our lessons. I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Naked Dog Training. The methods work, the trainers are skilled and good at teaching that method, and I've seen huge progress. I highly recommend working with them.
