My Dog's Got Class

My Dogs Got Class has been such a great experience for us and our recently adopted adolescent dog Auggie. We had never done training classes of any kind with any of our previous dogs, so we weren't sure what to expect. Basic 1 with instructor Melissa has truly become one of the highlights of our week and we plan on continuing with additional classes. Our instructor Melissa, as well as all other staff we've encountered, have been kind and helpful. The class is so well organized and we consistently receive clear instruction and demonstration of techniques. Melissa takes the time to explain WHY we are doing what we are doing and guides us in a way that really sets us and our dog up for success. When we leave at the end of each class, we feel confident in our ability to practice the newly learned skills on our own. The small class size and setup of the training room are great. Although this is a group training class, each dog and their handler(s) are provided with individual attention and feedback. We really appreciate being able to learn new things in a more "private" area and then build on them with distractions around the room. Melissa appears to be constantly assessing the space and providing larger/smaller areas or more/less distraction based on how dogs are doing with a particular skill. Everything always feels very safe and controlled, which allows us to focus on what we are learning with our dog. Auggie has learned new skills over the course of Basic 1 that have positively impacted our life with him outside of the training room. Additionaly, attending classes with him has been a really nice bonding experience. We are so, so happy to have found MDGC and highly recommend it to anyone looking to teach their dog new skills and strengthen their relationship with their dog.

Such an awesome experience for Chet and me! It’s a positive, relationship based training that lets you bond with your dog while he’s learning manners, impulse control, and safety skills! We’re already signed up for Basic Obedience 2 since my dog loved it so much and we’ve had such success. I have recommended MDGC to people who have issues or just want some more structure with their dogs. Looking forward to many more classes ahead with Adrienne and her team!

We completed the Basic class with our 11-month old Border Collie-mix, Gus, and really enjoyed the class! Gus was recently adopted by us and came from a Puppy Mill situation, he was under-socialized and very nervous of new places and new people. The first couple of classes were hard for him but our instructor, Polina, gave us the tools and resources to help Gus feel more secure at home and in class. As we practiced, he became more and more confident. The mat training really helped Gus when he would come to work with me or visit new places. By the last class, Gus was walking in and out of the building on leash (politely, might I add) and was even playing (which was a great sign, he was feeling safe and happy). The facility was tidy and clean and the class size was perfect. We had a couple of questions that were not addressed in the class curriculum and Polina would address them after class which was a great help. We thoroughly enjoyed the class and can't wait to sign up for some of their upcoming clinics!

We’ve done it all with these amazing trainers! Our XL bully, Tyson, started with privates at 16 weeks, followed by puppy K, drop offs for puppies and mind your manners and then basic 1. Tyson loves going to all of it. He gets excited as soon as we pull into the parking lot. He has learned so much. We have learned so many tools to create an environment that helps Tyson succeed. The trainers are always available to help with things that come up outside of class. We can’t say enough good about them. Tyson is growing into a fine young man and we give a lot of credit to the trainers!
