We have been taking our dog, Kane, to My Canine Accomplice for a few weeks and absolutely love it. Even after our first class we were already feeling more confident in our approach to our dog’s behavior. And Kane has been enjoying the classes too! Martin is patient as he works with his clients so both the dog and owner have the best possible experience.

Our goal in bringing DogDog to My Canine Accomplice was to give him a safe space to explore, have fun, and be thoughtfully challenged—guided by a trainer who truly knows what he’s doing. We rescued DogDog, a pit bull mix, almost a year ago. Since then, we’ve been working consistently to help him become a more balanced dog. We’re proud of how far he’s come, but we also know he has more potential—and that we can do more for him with the right guidance. I first heard about My Canine Accomplice and Martin, the owner and trainer, through a friend who brings her dog there. From the moment I learned more, I knew this was the place. We didn’t come here to “fix” DogDog’s reactivity. Instead, our focus was on building trust, confidence, and a stronger bond through engaging and challenging activities—that we believe these cores will help modified the behavioral issues and that’s exactly what we found here. What persuaded me most is that My Canine Accomplice isn’t just about training commands. It takes a holistic approach that includes canine fitness, nutrition, and overall health, which aligns deeply with what we value for DogDog. One thing that truly stands out is how Martin personalizes the work to fit both the dog and the human. There are so many options—agility, FitPaws fitness, nose work, bite work, sport training, obedience, behavior modification—and Martin helps tailor a path that makes sense for your individual goals and your dog’s needs. Martin is an exceptional trainer and coach. He isn’t loud or intimidating. He’s calm, gentle, and grounded, with an energy that both dogs and humans respond to. Most importantly, he truly listens—he doesn’t just hear you. You feel supported, understood, and respected throughout the process. We’ve already booked more sessions and highly recommend My Canine Accomplice to anyone looking to build a strong, healthy, and respectful relationship with their dog.

I have known Martin, from My Canine Accomplice, for about 6 years. While I lived in Florida, Martin stayed in touch with me about meeting for training while he traveled in Florida. I was grateful and impressed that he cared THAT much. We moved back to the Midwest in Spring of 2024 and started training with Martin late Summer of 2024. Sarge and I have had an isolated lifestyle that likely started in 2020. Sarge is a 7yo spicy GSD. We were headed in the wrong direction with his weight and with Martins instructions, Sarge is down 9 pounds. That is with changes in the kibble and raw we already fed, he did not push an overhaul of food. (Fromm & various raw… Turkey neck, chicken feet, liver, beef and marrow bones) Lately, it has been challenging with weather, daylight, and puppy eyes to maintain this loss. We are within 1 pound, weighing 88 lbs. I am leaping all in for a complete change to all raw. Between the exercises we have been taught (push ups etc) and a new diet plan, I am confident I will be able to continue to manage my dogs weight and level of exercise to enhance and extend his life. I trust very little, but I do trust Martin. He has been patient in helping me train my dog for OUR needs. Not a cookie cutter experience. Not all learn and train the same, Martin recognizes this and adjusts. He has not given up on Me or my best friend. I am forever grateful to be with Martin and lucky that he knows the training that is the foundation of our relationship. Slack in leash!~Frank I highly recommend Martin at My Canine Accomplice!
