MuttSchool: dog training and behavior

I can't say enough good things about the Mutt School. My skittish 🐕 loves this place and all of the people there. Imagine your pup enjoying "cainine time" that includes a little training and learning commands. That's what your dog will get during doggie daycare here. The staff are committed to a loving and positive approach to human/cainine interaction and it shows in everything they do. I've received and witnessed the staff offer great advice on everything from food to harnesses to training to how to help sooothe frayed puppy nerves. Every bit of advice is spot-on and comes without judgement or pressure. In a town where many 🐕 people neither socialize/train their dogs well nor pay attention to such details, the Mutt School offers the concerned dog person an alternative.They are a little more expensive than some other places in the area, but so very much worth every extra penny.

My love for this place and the staff cannot be over stated enough. Mary is the owner and absolutely amazing - she LOVES dogs and believes in safety above all. The trainers are all about positive reinforcement . Julie was our private trainer for a long time. We adopted a leash reactive dog, Goofy, that would go bananas from a football field distance if he saw a dog or heard a dog. Now almost 1.5 years later he is reactive perhaps just a couple times a month and in short manageable bursts and most of the time he doesn't care if he hears barking. Julie went slowly with all our lessons and even though there were so many moments where we thought our dog was impossible - Julie believed...and at a snails pace Goofy improved. His improvement, though slow, was solid. Even after a dog attack he did not regress in training (keep your dogs leashed!). Be prepared for your dog to like Julie more than you when she visits! Seth! Oh Seth! He is an amazing man. He was able to introduce Goofy to the dogs at the facility and because of that we were able to finally try out Wild Cat Pet Resort and board him without fear. After a year of not being able to leave town because of Goofy, this was such a relief. When Seth speaks, ALL the dogs listen. I feel like the dogs he train see him as a "father figure" and don't want to disappoint him. He is firm yet incredibly kind and his dog Zeus is every dogs best friend. Wonderful trainer! Alexis was such a huge help when we adopted our second dog Agnes. Agnes was petrified of crates, men, sticks, men in uniform, brooms, slippers, ladles, and loud noises (all of which we worked on at Mutt School and at home). When we adopted Agnes, Alexis gave us her number to text pictures, videos, or ask questions during Goofy and Agnes's adjustment period. It was so stressful but her kindness, knowledge, and support helped us get through some playful bumps. Goofy and Agnes are now BFFs. :) When we needed to take a trip shortly after adopting our second dog, Dawn and Alexis suggested taking Agnes over to Wildcat Pet Resort so she could meet the staff there and sniff about so it wouldn't be a new scary experience. These people really care about your dogs. I can't recommend this place enough. I will be so sad to move out of town because I truly feel like this place is one in a million.
