Mr. Dog Training

Sara Sokol totally gets dogs – and people – which is the perfect recipe for fun and successful relationship building (training)! I am writing this review for folks considering taking one of Sara’s introductory courses, such as Brilliant Basics. (If you have already taken a class with Sara, you are probably already signed up for more.) For me, the most valuable take-aways from Brilliant Basics class were the games Sara teaches to train the humans to build their relationships with their dogs, and the materials Sara provides to help us understand dog behaviors so that we can set our dogs up to succeed. Of course you will learn to teach your dog to sit, lie down, stay, wait, come when called, and walk nicely on a leach, but you will also learn games which teach your dog to make eye contact with you, listen for you, come back to you without being called, and look to you (hopefully) before getting into mischief. Don’t skip Sara’s Brilliant Basics, even if your dog can already sit, stay, lie down, etc. There’s so much more to this class! The online platform for obedience classes is magical. It’s so easy to pay attention (for people and dogs!), learn, ask questions, and let Sara see how your dog is doing, without the distractions of being in a new place with other dogs. In a nutshell, taking a class with Mr. Dog Training is a super fun way to spend an hour of your week (my dog agrees), and you come away with so many practical tools to make life with your dog a treat for both of you!
