Misguided Mutts Dog Behavior Training

I truly cannot say enough about Rich and Christina of Misguided Mutts. They care for our pups as if they were their own, and that kind of trust is everything. One story that really captures who they are: our dog was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease at just 4 years old—something that requires consistent medication and thoughtful care. Rich and Christina didn’t hesitate for a second. They were completely confident and compassionate in managing her needs. Our pup can be anxious and easily stressed, yet every time she comes home from them, she is noticeably calmer. Then, just one week before a planned trip to Portugal, she ruptured her CCL. Again, no hesitation. They stepped in immediately and took over her care starting post-op day one, supporting her recovery for four full weeks. They went above and beyond—handling medications, rehab, and even taking her to vet appointments. They’ve become like family to us because of how deeply they care. We’ve since adopted two puppies, and once again… no problem. I even checked in with them beforehand to make sure 2 puppies was an ok idea, and they welcomed them with open arms. If you’re looking for training, boarding, or simply people who will love your dog as much as you do, I cannot recommend Misguided Mutts enough. We are truly so grateful. 🐾

Paid for exceptional dog program for 3 week board and train for basic training (dog had no behavioral issues). Rich might be great at curbing those issues, but as far as meeting the expectations called out on the website for basic commands, my expectations were not met. The only real issue we brought up was jumping on guests, these issues did not improve at all. As far as the commands, none of them (sit, stay, place) were repeatable, and to perform under ‘heavy distractions’ was really non existent. I will admit I didn’t do the follow up appointment, but in all honesty I refused to pay for more instruction when the original didn’t work. Me and my wife frequently joke the about our 3000$ leash, the only thing we really got out of the program, but it has since (in the last 4 months) broken. I recommend looking elsewhere for training. EDIT: In response to their response. The dogs name was Riggs. Rich should well remember him from the pick up session in which he repeatedly stated “you’re making me look bad Riggs”. Again for anyone looking to use this service for basic training - they had a 6 month old puppy for 3 weeks, and couldn’t teach sit, stay, or place, then blame me for not having a follow up appointment.

Earlier this year, we lost our dog Brice. Shortly after, we got another dog named Bear, who is very similar to Brice. However, Bear had no previous training and was very hard to manage. To help with his behavior, we took him to Misguided Mutts in Oxford, PA. Ritch, the owner, had helped us with Brice when we got him 12 years ago. Rich has great expertise in training dogs. He spent time with us and helped me with Bear, particularly with leash management and teaching him to follow up and not get distracted. Bear is now a very well-behaved dog, and all thanks to Ritch and Misguided Mutts.

Amazing from start to finish. Our dog had the basics but needed some fine tuning. Was easily excitable, leash aggressive, anxious, and peed around the house out of spite. Its hard to leave you dog with a stranger and trust that they are in good hands. At drop off, it was obvious Rich has a love for dogs and was in good hands. At pick up, Rich provided us with great training and guidance to help us continue at home. On his first walk at home, it was clear that he was a different dog. Zero pulling and leash reactivity when other dogs walk by. When the kids got home, who he would jump all over prior, but as excited he and they were to see each other after two weeks, he sat and waited for them and was so gentle with them. Two weeks later: Minimal leash reactivity when dogs are showing aggression towards him, but he immediately recalls when corrected. Kids are training him, which they were never able to do. He seems less anxious. No peeing in the house. He knows the routine, goes to his place without being told and waits to be released after meals and walks. Barking and greeting visitors is still a work in progress but is much better. Absolutely wonderful experience and amazing results. Thank you Rich and the Misguided Mutts team.
