Misfits Dog Training

John at Misfits Dog Training has made a huge difference in the training of our 9 month old Bernese Mountain Dog named Sophie. The impact was immediate in terms of how she improved when heeling by staying in position, and not pulling. Her strength made walks a chore vs. a joy, but with John’s knowledge and demeanor everything improved starting with the first training. Subsequent training sessions have been equally productive in helping Sophie in so many ways. My wife and I would (and have) recommended John to any dog owner seeking positive training for their pet.

Update!!! Our dog continues to exceed expectations! Unfortunately he has had to have TPLO surgery this summer and Jon our trainer continues to check in on him. Rip was also so reactive to other dogs and time spent with Jon and Kailey really has helped this! Although Jon did not recommend us getting a new dog at the time, we didn’t listen and did it anyway. Jon and Kailey have been so supportive and STILL continue to continue to check in! I send them videos and pictures and they always offer to come give reminder sessions! We will do this when the dog is fully healthy and healed! ***** there is nothing cuter than a big dog and a small dog that are best buddies! We never thought we would see that! Thanks to MisFits we do!!***** We are so thrilled and thankful for the training that our dog Rip has received! He is a new obedient dog! We are continuing to work with him but knows what we are saying! Our dog is the sweetest most stubborn RottiePit in the world and he listens to us! I can continue to list his new positive attributes but you get the idea! Our frustrations are gone! We are so happy!

Unfortunately, our experience with Misfits was drastically different than other reviewers. We decided to use Misfits to board and train our puppy as they do it in a home environment. We had multiple issues with communication, including zero follow up after we got our puppy back. We were told we could see our puppy throughout the month yet were only able to see her once. The trainer is in Colorado Springs so you cannot easily meet up. We were also under the impression we would get regular updates and photos of our pup. The photos were sporadic maybe twice a week and we had to ask for updates on progress. We have received zero communication regarding follow up lessons (which we were told would happen a couple weeks after she came back) or even check-in to see how she is doing. She returned to us not potty trained, somewhat crate trained and definitely still fearful of strangers (even though she was taken to stores and a mountain trip to socialize). She can sit though. lol. When she was dropped off we were told she was potty and crate trained. That was definitely not true. They asked to keep her another month (not given a reason what was failing) and we said no as we did not want another month of limited communication and not seeing our pup. We paid thousands of dollars and are incredibly disappointed. Their other training may be great but the board and train is definitely lacking.
