Mike Preis Dog Training

I've been working with Mike for almost four years at this point. I met him when we got a young rescue dog from the Brooklyn Animal Control Center. The dog was too much to manage and I needed help figuring out some of the basic training aspects. Several years later, that dog is our super chill family pet and we're still working with Mike on all kinds of fun tricks that have enhanced the ol' canine-human bond!

Mike is an absolute dog whisperer and our dog Oscar completely adores him. We got Oscar when he was only eight weeks old, when we first brought him home we realized how under prepared we were! For the first week or so poor Oscar took a while to adopt to his new surroundings, he wasn’t sleeping very well and we were having trouble getting him to love his crate! In a fit of desperation I googled dog trainers in our neighborhood and thankfully came across Mike! Mike was super reassuring and responsive to my initial email and he was really accommodating with fitting us into his schedule. Since Oscar was still quite young our first few sessions were in our house, he taught us all the basic stuff like recall and the importance of positive reenforcement for good behavior and how to appropriately act when Oscie misbehaved! He had Oscar responding within minutes of working with him- it was really amazing to see! From the offset Oscar loved Mike. We worked with him over approx six sessions, he helped us leash train Oscar and explained the importance of exposing Oscar to lots of different environments to ensure he was well adapted dog. Even now, three years later, if Oscar sees Mike on the street he gets so excited!! Mike is great guy all round, he is so warm and friendly and his passion for dogs and animals is so obvious! He helped us immensely and we loved working with him.

Mike Preis is an excellent trainer. He is extremely knowledgeable, consistent in his methods, always professional and punctual and, most importantly a true dog whisperer and lover of all animals. He has a gentle no-punishment approach that has worked wonders with our puppy. He is patient with his clients (canine and human) and he provides very helpful supplemental written materials after each of our sessions. He has guided us on so much more than behavioral issues, and has made terrific recommendations about leashes, harnesses, training treats, crates, bedding, and nutrition. He’s first rate and we highly recommend him.
