FirstBarkMy wife and I brought both our dogs here for some much needed training and I have nothing but great things to say. We completed the beginner and advanced courses and Fabi was the instructor! About Michael's Angel Paws
Michael’s Angel Paws is a Nevada tax-exempt, IRS-appr 501c3 not-for-profit organization that was inaugurated in October 2012. At our core and as of January 2021; we have graduated over 125 Assistance dogs, with over 70 Assistant dogs in training currently. Our Therapy Teams have over 250 members that are committed to helping our communities feel better and or navigate through difficult times with the help of our loving pups. Furthermore, we have coached over 5,000 dogs and helped them safely become happy, healthy, and well-trained companion dogs for families all over the Las Vegas Valley and beyond. Many of these teams have gone on to compete in agility, obedience, rally, one of our biggest joys is giving back to community.

How do you become Therapy Dog certified?
The training journey is different for every dog. To become a part of the Michael's Angel Paws Therapy Dog Family, you must pass the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Test and the Michael's Angel Paws Therapy Dog Class. Once you have passed the Therapy Dog class and test, you can enroll in the Therapy Dog Program.

What’s the difference between an Emotional Support Animal, a Therapy Dog, and a Service Dog?
Therapy Dogs and their companions are a dynamic duo trained to spread joy and healing through their special bond and interaction with people. These furry therapists, often the beloved pets of their companions, join them on their visits to various locations. While Therapy Dogs aren't granted public access by default, they can work their magic once they receive prior authorization and help others pawsitively everyday. Service animals are dogs individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Under the American Disabilities Act, State and local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public generally must allow Service Animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is allowed to go. (www.ada.gov) Emotional support animals are defined as a dog’s mere presence providing comfort to an individual. Emotional support animals are not specifically trained to mitigate a disability.

I’m so glad I found these training classes. Matt is a wonderful trainer! He gives individual recommendations based on the dog’s specific personality and behavior. This is not a cookie cutter training class. I’ve learned how important it is to train the trainer! Thank you so much for all you do!

My dog Ascher and me have taken Advanced Obedience with Instructor Fabi and Canine Good Citizen with Matthew so far. Both instructors were very professional, encouraging, positive feedback, very helpful as well as very experienced and knowledgeable in Training methods. I really appreciated both of them being willing to go the extra mile to help you achieve these goals with my dog as he isn’t the easiest thing to train as a Rescue, Amstaff/American Pit Bull mix 10 yrs of age. They also have a Therapy Dog Program which helps you learn to see if you and your dog would be a good fit for this kind of volunteering, Ascher and me are starting this class next.

Our dog Murray knew some basic skills, but was having a problem with nipping. Matt helped us fill in the foundation cracks of our training by showing us tweaks to make to our training sessions to make them more productive and lasting. I'll admit, at training session 3 we were still having nipping issues and I was getting frustrated. However, the last weeks things started clicking for probably me more than Murray and there was a night and day difference in his behavior. It was great for Murray to have to go and be a part of an hour class, around other puppies, and behave himself. Challenging, but rewarding. Matt has lots of training gems that I would have never thought of and work if incorporated regularly. We will be attending the advanced class and can't wait to see even more advancement with Murray!
Our dog, Milo, has attended foundation for obedience and advanced obedience classes with Fabi and Matt. We’ve also had private training with Matt. Both trainers are excellent trainers and show a love for training dogs. I will continue training as Milo gets better with each class.
