This person called and wanted a dog trained as a protection dog. It is a service that we don't take lightly. We screen all clients prior to an evalutions for this. It was clearly explained to the caller that breed alone does not qualify a dog for this task. In our years of experience with working dogs, not all dogs are made for the task. A true protection dog takes a level of tenacity with a clear level head. Just because a dog has papers doesn't make it an automatic suitable fit for the job. We work with all breeds. Some of our favorites are the dogs from the animal shelter. When choosing to work with the client, we take into account the moral and social responsibility portions of the task. Afterall, we can be held liable for the training provided in protection cases. There is a huge social responsiblity point to protection dogs. What if it bites a child, injuries an innocent person because it is not the right dog. We are sorry, but doing the right thing is more important.
