Marcum K9 Obedience: Dog Training

I sent my 2 year old Miniature Australian Shepard, Lilo, to Marcum for a 20 day board and train. Before training, Lilo was constantly crying, barking, anxious and had some growling/ teeth showing tendencies. She had zero recall ability. I thought I could help her, but I reached a point where I knew I couldn’t help her on my own. From the second I had my consultation with Allison, I knew that this training is what she needed. Allison was so great at explaining the training process. I looked forward to hearing the updates every day and when I got those texts, I got so excited. I could notice Lilo gaining confidence, and I was so happy. When I went for the first training visit on day 15, I was prepared to start training with Lilo and we had a great visit! At pick up, I did more training and when she got home I couldn’t believe how much she had improved! She has been home for a little over a week now, and I am still in awe. Lilo will take walks with me and not pull at all, her recall is amazing, and I can help her feel more confident in situations where she would usually be unsettled before. I had become accustomed to Lilo sort of being the boss. I’d given up a lot of my own freedom to try to help her. Now Lilo is confident and listens for my direction. We already have a better relationship, and I know it’s going to keep getting better! This training was an investment that will continue to pay off! I highly recommend Marcum K9!

Marcum k9’s board and train is amazing. Before their program, Ghost knew how to sit and that’s about it. They were very upfront with pricing and expectations during our consult. At drop off, they were thorough and gave me plenty of time to talk directly with the trainer about Ghost’s habits. While their, I got daily photos and updates on her progress (thank goodness bc we missed her so much) . They were great at explaining the transition process to coming back home so we could have the best outcome possible. Ghost learned so much in such a short time and they really built a foundation for us to better communicate with and train her. I will be sending my second dog to their program next month and am confident they were turn my dog reactive, skittish boy into a calm, well trained dog.

I wanted to wait to write this review until a couple months after my board and train ended. I can not explain how life changing bring my dog to marcum has been. I got Rosie, my sweet baby pitty, at around 9 weeks old. At around 5 months she started to get super anxious around new people and dogs, it got to the point where she lunged at another person. I had no idea how to help her or what to do, I just knew we couldn’t do nothing! Marcum gave me and Rosie a common language to communicate. I’m able to hold her in a place when new people are entering the house, walk her around our neighborhood (no pulling!!) and take her to a giant field to play with her without being afraid that I would be able to recall her. Sierra our trainer, and Rosie’s best friend. Is always a text away if we need her. She’s honestly incredible and always so supportive. I was so nervous to invest this kind of money into my dog, but let me tell you you will not regret it. It’s been life changing and I know it will continue to be!
