Making Fetch Happen

I cannot say enough good things about Shelley and MFH. I signed up for nosework just looking for some enrichment for my very anxious boy. Shelley went beyond just teaching a new skill to working to develop a treatment and training plan to make my dog more comfortable being out in the world. We're 8 classes in, and the results are beyond what I could have hoped for. Not only is he getting faster and faster at picking up new skills, but I can walk him in a busy area and not worry about him nervously darting into the street. Now, if we show up to class early, he starts crying and pawing at the door to be let in. I think MFH has become the best part of his week. His confidence is way up, and he is so, so happy.

Shelley is wonderful! My 8 month old puppy loves going to obedience class and he’s come a really long way in a short seven weeks with Shelley’s help. She even did a few home visits with us when we had specific topics we wanted help with (crate training, gentle lead training). I didn’t grow up with dogs so I was a initially a bit overwhelmed with training and raising a high-energy puppy. She helped me and my partner gain more confidence overall and gave us tools to better understand and support our pup.

I've been fostering dogs for over 15 years and recently came across one with a difficult behavior issue. Our association hired Shelley after she was recommended to me by the MSPCA. Her approach of positive reinforcement of good behavior began working in the very first session. It was great to be able to she Shelley's techniques in person so that I could then try it. She also took the time to explain what she was doing and why in simple language that helped me to remember and reinforce the training once she left. I learned so much from her! Whether you have a dog that is simply untrained or has a behavioral challenge, I would highly recommend Shelley!
