Macatawa Dog Training

You are at an obvious disadvantage when you write about how your dog loves to go certain places, because dogs can’t speak. Fortunately, they don’t need to. When I take my dog to Macatawa Dog Training and Doggie Daycare, he gets out of the car and waits by the front door. He waits rather patiently yet coaxes me to move more quickly to let him in. Once I open the door, he bolts to the back where he is greeted by the staff and placed with other dogs. His tale is wagging and he is happy. He gets socialization, exercise and on site training for behavioral issues which may pop up. When I pick him up, he is happy to see me but to runs to the staff to say get a final pet " good bye". That is his testimonial. My testimonial is the same. We go to Macatawa Dog Training for dog training and Doggie Day Care. I have been a customer for over 1 year. I go there because of Erin and the staff- they are amazing. With training, Erin is a dog whisperer; she knows and loves every dog breed. They love her and she, they. She identifies dog personality traits and look for ways to successfully work with you and your dog. Her instruction is clear and she leads by example. If you or your dog does not understand the command, she will find one that works. She genuinely cares about the dogs and you, is positive and has the energy to make you love training as much as she. When you open the door for Doggie Day care, you routinely are greeted by Robert, who may have a dog sitting next to him-- they also are the greeters. No matter who is at the front desk, s/he are always smiling, they love your dog and care about you. They have made scheduling accommodations and have opened early when I was in a pinch. As a matter of practice, they notify you that your dog is registered and each day, send you a report card. Like Erin and Robert, the staff loves animals and smile a lot. They love my dog and love to be there. When I pick my dog up, he smells like perfume from the women who pick him up. Macatawa Dog Training is not just a business, it is a family-run business. You and your dog are part of their family. They have the expertise, environment and personality to work with any dog and any person, for that matter. You should take your dog here for training and daycare. You won’t regret it, nor will your dog. You will learn wonderful things and know your dog is well cared for and loved. As an added bonus, there are mints at the front desk.

We contacted Erin for home private lessons. She came out, and provided a very knowledgeable assessment of our dog. Unfortunately, when it came time to schedule our training sessions, the first training date got pushed out a few weeks, and response from them is slow. I had to email and text several times to get a response. Erin was trying to arrange childcare, which I understand can be a challenge, but we had all afternoons open, and full days Weds. and Fridays. Erin, then, canceled our first session, the day of, saying they do not schedule future sessions ahead of time…but only on a week by basis. And that we should find a trainer who works evenings. This was very frustrating because it was almost a month from our first meeting, to when we were told they couldn’t work with our schedule. That is a lot of time to go by for a puppy with high anxiety issues. And we never requested evenings.

Whether it’s 1:1 lessons or daycare, our puppy walks out their door better than the moment they stepped in. My goal was to teach my puppy not to bark at strangers and in a single lesson Erin gave me the tools necessary to improve my dog’s behavior. I can confidently say you will not leave Macatawa Dog Training disappointed, the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given!

When we brought home our puppy Erin is who we called. Since then she’s been our trainer, we’ve done some classes and now we love sending our dog to her daycare. She knows dogs better than anyone I’ve met, she shows kindness to us as owners (it’s actually us she’s training!) and runs some amazing programs. Her staff is exceptional as well. also being able to participate in daycare and have A+ grooming as an option at the same location is awesome!! I can’t imagine owning a dog without her.
