I took my Aussi Bodie to the rattlesnake aversion class twice, initially about 5 years ago shortly after he had been bitten on his upper lip by a juvenile rattler on our back patio. He had a second class exposure approximately 1 1/2 years ago. On each occasion he responded quickly and adversively to the class snake exposures. I would highly recommend these classes which are very professionally done and expose the dog individually on leash to a variety of situations including visual exposure to live scarey big and small snakes, snake skin smell, and snake rattling in bushes without seeing the snake. Gina is very patient in giving each dog the individual attention and repetitions needed to make sure the dog understands. Some dogs are quicker than others. . Bodie has had no further live rattlesnake contact except for 2 exposures to dead rattlesnakes while hiking on leash with me. On each occasion he gave the dead snake apparent wide birth. On the last occasion he became absolutely airborne jumping away from the dead snake when he initially saw or smelled it. There is no question in my mind that an aversion class beats a $3000 trip to the animal emergency hospital any day.
