Lucky Pup Obedience Training

My husband, Chris, is Owner/Trainer at Lucky Pup, so I will try my best to be impartial in my review and give an honest account 😀 I enrolled in Basic Obedience I with my 8 year old Shepherd/Boxer mix and I will admit that I felt a bit intimidated putting on the treat bag (I knew that Chris would expect us to be way better at this than we were!). So I said a prayer for our marriage, and I became a student to my husband. The 1st class was a lot of fumbles and Gard and I realized that we hadn't picked up as much from watching Chris and Luna train as we had originally thought. Chris started out small with us to build our confidence and he mainly worked to re-inforce our bond and explained "tension on your leash is tension between you and your dog" and "how to properly correct your dog so you aren't causing any undue pressure" 2nd and 3rd classes, I started to realize that Chris and Gard were training me and I was a terrible student. I obviously knew everything and was unteachable at times. Our trainer stayed professional and kept us on track with reps 😀 On our 4th class, Gard and I both had our ahh ha moment!! Just like that, after the weeks of fumbles and follies, we communicated in a way I haven't with Gard in all these 8 years! After that, we were eager students, ready to listen to wisdom and knowledge when we see it! 5th-8th classes were used to polish up our training and Chris made sure we understood our new goals and were able to demonstrate our new habits. Graduating from Obedience Training is not something I ever thought I'd do, but so glad that I did! I now have a new bond with all 3 of our big dogs and a lil bit of street cred with my husband 😃 A wife's review 👩
