I sought out JW not necessarily for hunting training, but also for basic obedience. I wasn’t having any luck with the general “obedience” trainers getting though to my Weimaraner, who has a lot of energy and a mind of her own sometimes. I explained my goals, and JW helped me train my dog accordingly. My Weimaraner earned her NAVHDA NA title, and is practicing for her junior hunter. I am able to take her out on the Boise foothills trails with my mountain bike, off leash, with no fear that she’ll interfere with another dog, biker, or hiker. And she’s a great companion on our camping excursions. I am so thrilled with my experience, and I feel I learned as much as my dog!

JW took my young dog, Tibbs, for the hunt camp in Montana this fall. The program was incredible and perfectly organized. Tibbs gained more wild bird exposure, travel experience, total hunting days during this 3 weeks than I could've given him over 2 entire seasons. Tibbs had a lot to learn, but JW was so patient and thoughtful about making sure he was successful. I also sincerely appreciated JW's communication about my dog's progress throughout the trip. Tibbs headed up to Montana as a puppy and came back a "hunting dog"...I could not have been more pleased. If you want to make sure your dog gets on wild birds in an immersive setting for real-world training, JW is the man and the Lone Sage hunt camp is the program. Thank you JW!

Had a fantastic experience in Montana with JW of Lone Sage Bird Dogs. JW’s experience and expertise with dogs and wild birds greatly benefited my dogs and I learned a lot from him. All the dogs were well-cared for and had their individual needs met, including my new puppy. I honestly can’t think of anything less than positive to say about my time there. JW is running a first-class operation at Lone Sage Bird Dogs and I hope to continue to be a part of it.
