Leash Free Living

I have had six private lessons at Leash Free Living (LFL) between two dogs - five in studio and one at home. I highly recommend LFL to anyone! I have previously had my nine year old dog trained at Pet Smart in another state and he learned the basics, but when I first adopted a second dog (1 year old) from the SPCA, I was told Pet Smart doesn't meet the same standards that a lot of area providers do and, in my search, I came across LFL. My younger dog started displaying some resource guarding and was too rough with my cats and ultimately had to return to the SPCA. But it was not a decision I made lightly, and an in-home session with Jacquie helped to reassure me that I was doing the best thing for my resident pets and the new dog (it's a long story, and took a few conversations to convey). Since the packaged classes were a better deal kept than returned, I used the remaining classes on my older dog, Beau. It turns out old dogs CAN learn new tricks. He picked up on the many concepts we covered in each class very quickly and I received a virtual training platform access and class summary after each class. My trainer was Alex. I was told he was relatively new to the practice, but you wouldn't have known it. I'm sure everyone there is very good but I elected to stick with Alex for all studio lessons. Learning from him was more like a conversation than a lecture. He patiently allowed questions and re-taught the things I didn't realize I'd missed. Overall, we learned loose leash walking, place, sit and stay, a proper down, heel, and more. The time with my dog was also invaluable - I know he enjoyed the attention and being put to use. Once I have the time and resources, I will be bringing my older (remaining) dog back for more lessons. I do know they also have social events that all clients can attend, which appealed to me, as well!

Our English Cream Golden Retriever loves going to Leash Free Living. He went there for puppy training, later we took him to regular training. And he goes to the doggie daycare/training. He loves being there throughout the day refreshing his training and being with the other dogs. When we take him to LFL he wants out of the car immediately to go inside, his tale wagging all the way in. It is a great place to take your fur baby. You get a report card and video of their day. They also do an outstanding job on nail trim and grinding. When he comes home from a day at LFL he is ready to relax for the remainder of the evening. I highly recommend it, it is the best. I wish they had boarding.
