Lavaca River Ranch

Just wanted to express my wife’s and my amazement at what Michael and the team at Lavaca River Ranch was able to do with our dog Jake. He was a full blown wild and energetic 3 year old male GSP, without any formal training. We were fortunate enough for Michael to take him on and initially were looking for general disobedience training for him. What Michael and the team were able to instill in him and teach has been amazing. Not only is he now a well behaved part of the family that even our 4 year old son can walk, but Michael was able to work with his prey drive to get him started on retrieving. My family and I are looking forward to many memories and hunting seasons to come with Jake, not to mention the family activities he now gets to be a part of due to the obedience training. Michael was constantly in contact with us about his well being and how he was coming along in training. He welcomed us out to check on him at any time and made you feel like family and taught us so much on how to continue working with him once he came home. My work schedule keeps me gone at longer periods, so he would send videos of our boy and how he was doing to keep us updated. I understand it is a longer review, but it is hard to put into words what Michael was able to accomplish in a very short period and how much it genuinely means to our family. He truly is a master in his craft. Then the beautiful grounds that the ranch and kennels were maintained on made you feel 100% comfortable about leaving a part of your family there. Thank you again for taking a dog that we were struggling with on the obedience side (lots of un funneled energy) and giving him a purpose and the ability to be part of all the family activities to come.

It’s been an amazing experience! I took Michael a German shepherd-ish dog that we found wandering out at the farm. We wanted this pup to have the best opportunity to find a great home so we thought some training would help. Michael didn’t hesitate! Through the course of Bear’s training I saw a confident, loving, well mannered, obedient companion emerge from a cowering stray! He’s top notch! Both Michael and Bear! The best part has been watching a trainer teach with love, compassion, understanding and respect! He truly loves all his students!

We recently sent our 2 GSP’s for obedience and beginner retriever training to Michael at Lavaca River Ranch Kennels. Not only is it a top notch facility, Michael(trainer) is top notch and truly cares for and gets to know each dog personally. Their abilities show individually and he did an incredible job finding their full potential! Their obedience is spot on and if you know GSP’s, having 2 in the home can pose a challenge. Michael made sure we were set for a successful life together and I can’t thank him enough. I get so many compliments on how well behaved they are, yet they have kept their full of life personalities! No fear was instilled in them, just trained skill! I would recommend Michael at Lavaca River Ranch Kennels to anyone with any breed, he truly loves and works magic with them!
