LA’s Dog Trainer

I never provided any services to Samantha G. or her dog. Stating that we were gossiping or spreading misinformation is an outright lie. Stating information that is publicly available about a business (on their own website) is not gossiping or spreading misinformation. The organization’s website states that most of the dog trainers in the program were convicted felons serving LIFE SENTENCES. Life sentences are for serious felony charges, not minor offences. The organization employs previous and CURRENTLY incarcerated individuals as dog trainers. This was all that was said about the organization. We have had 2 clients come to us that were very uncomfortable (scared) to find out, after working with a trainer, and having them come to their home, that their “trainer” was a previous or currently incarcerated person. We didn’t want Samantha to have the same experience. Go to their website (link at the end of this response) and you will see: "As of January 2020, twenty-one (21) Paws For Life participants have had their sentences commuted, most whom were serving life-sentences." “Since commencing in 2014, many of the Paws For Life graduates have returned to the community. We are proud to boast that some have gone on to work at non-profit organizations, become professional dog trainers, and business owners". Reviews are for companies you actually work with, not because a company informed you that the people you are working with were or are currently incarcerated. Both Brianna and her husband seemed very happy about their training during their puppy class. Notice that this review is written 6 months after Brianne finished the class and only after her check was cashed. Brianna is accusing me of “trying to get more money out of us” by inviting her to take the puppy class. If trying to get more money out of her was the case, the check would have been cashed right away, so clearly this is not true. We recommend puppy class for all puppies for socialization. For payment for any of our services we take checks, Venmo, PayPal, Square or cash, so her statement of my requiring a check is also untrue. In the private session we predominately dealt with the safety of their cat with their new large breed puppy. I briefly addressed jumping, nipping & potty training as you can only do so much in one private session and the puppy class was starting 3 days later (and we address those typical puppy issues during class). The class is 40 minutes of instruction and 20 minutes of supervised puppy play. We review the behaviors learned in previous classes if anyone is having trouble achieving them. Unfortunately they did not attend class #5 which is the class we address any behaviors that we might have missed. As with many small businesses, staffing has been an issue and we are no exception. Unfortunately her check was not cashed in a timely manner and no one noticed that it was old when we deposited it. Most clients will call if their check has not been cashed within a certain period of time. We did apologize to her, explained it was a bookkeeping error, and offered to have her return to class to learn whatever she felt she and Oso didn’t learn. We got no response. I guess she thought she could get away with not having to pay for her session or class, as she wrote the review only after her check was cashed.
